Extreme Assault How to? (Not do you?)
Hello,

I am new here but I have played this game a little bit years ago before EA was introduced. I was thinking after reading the "EA or not" thread, maybe I could get some help with how to effectively use EA and also some more info on how it works?

It seems that the rookies (me) would be well served if some of the EA masters could post their knowledge. I would love to read this, as opposed to a debate about which rules people prefer (EA on or off) because honestly. I never suggest we play with EA in my games because I don't understand how it works or how to effectively use it.

I know I would appreciate it, anyways... Thanks!

Dan

Welcome aboard Dan!

The first document to read is the Assault explanation doc in your Manuals folder.

I am by no means an expert on EA, but basically my advice would be to first look at any means lowering the defending stacks morale, and then try to plan a series of assaults, with your best assault units (SMG, Combat Engineers, etc) perhaps shared among the various assaults. So instead of one massive assault better to have a series of assaults.

When the defending hex looses SP or retreats, they are there for the taking.

So to be clear if I had 2 infantry platoons and two of engineers, it would be better to have one of each assault and then follow with the other two?

Second question: I did read the assault explanation but I don't get it. The problem I have is I guess I don't understand the effect morale has on the assault other than higher is better! What I am trying to say is how do assault factor and moral interrelate, if at all? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I just can't seem to "get it".

Thanks for the welcome Battle Kat!
