vehicle bridge building

Started playing the WF scenario 'CCR/7 Into the Breech'. The Axis must construct vehicle bridges for their armor to cross the canal. They have 5 bridging engineers to use. After 4 turns not one of them has managed to construct a bridge. The manual says they have only a 20 % chance of succeeding. Has anyone who played this scenario as Axis tell me how long it took before they completed the construction and what can be done to assist them?

Hello Herr Oberst,

I gave it a quick spin to just try out a few bridging engineers available near or around hex 54,60:

T1: 2 BEs, no vehicle bridges
T2: 2 BEs, no vehicle bridges
T3: 3 BEs, no vehicle bridges
T4: 3 BEs, 1 vehicle bridge
T5: 2 BEs, 1 vehicle bridge
T6: 1 BE, no vehicle bridge
T7: 1 BE, 1 vehicle bridge.

All in all, that's 3 succesful bridges created with 14 attempts of doing so, or a 21% succes rate.

Oberst, Boisforas here, about the Axis bridge building capabilities-the first time I played the German side, I went 7 turns without building a single bridge. Only on turn 8 did I finally get one across-very stressfull! Then again, another time I played the German side I had one across on turnc 2. Go figure! Eric

Yes, you can build a new bridge over a damaged one.
