Single unit firing vs multi-unit firing

Single unit firing vs multi-unit firing
You can shoot with a single unit or with a stack of units. Each unit fires individually, right? So there's no advantage to firing a stack except to minimize how often the enemy does defensive fire?

With a mini-max strategy, you shoot one unit at a time and save the rest for other combats But it also means a lot more mouse-clicking.

RE: Single unit firing vs multi-unit firing
IIRC the amount of casualties you inflict has an influence on the morale check of the enemy. So it's a tradeoff, do you use more than one unit to increase the chance of Disruption or do you save the other units for a future assault if the one unit firing is enough for disruption.

RE: Single unit firing vs multi-unit firing
Firing one unit at a time can trigger defensive fire with each shot, before other shots are taken, thus an untimely disruption of your units can result - say you are saving your best unit to assault and it gets disrupted. So there are trade offs, anyway.
