Boot Camp is OLD
Been there two days and I'm bored. Looking for PBEM SPWaW game. Should be able to put out at least a turn per day. Will have to make sure the OOBs are stardard. I've played with a few so they will need to be returned to the vanilla OOBs. Anyone interested, contact me and we can iron out the details.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
Ray,
you are much more likely to get a game in modded versions (SPH2H, SP with Alby's mod) of SPWaW, or winWW2 or winMBT than vanilla SPWaW, which is not very popular nowadays over here.
If you are novice with PBEM and have troubles to get a game, you may consider to contact Chris aka Weasel, our ladder custodian and he will help you to get started.
If you are experienced player, state so and than some veterans over here will be eager to show you you're not that experienced as you thought LOL (just kidding)
Welcome to our little, friendly community.

If you need an info about mods, browse the forum, they were widely discussed before.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
shortly speaking - winWW2 and winMBT are stand alone games made by CAMO. Both are available as free downloads and payable CDs (with some extras).
SPH2H and Alby mod are ...well, they are SPWaW mods, yet considered as different games, cause they both are differ much from the original.
Both are free downloads.
As I said, if you have few minutes, you will find lots of info about all of them on this forum.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
I've downloaded and installed SPWAW_Enhanced_FV.1.zip. Anyone with that mod interested in a game, let me know.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
I have V2 8.403 installed. I don't know enough about WaW to know if we are on the same page or not. I am a MBT player, but it might be interesting to play a WaW game and see what has changed from 4.5, which I played some hotseat with many years ago. If we are compatable, I'm game. IIRC, the map functions of WaW were pretty bad. Only 3 level's and a max size of 5km's by 4Km's. I have been told that the Rambo crews were de-mobilized.
Although no word on if the grunts were still overdosed on steroids and go into a roid rage at the first shot, charging forward with unbelievable amounts of chemical courage. I guess we will find out if the spidy sense is still there.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
Grumbler - from what I can tell, the OOB files, among others, are heavily modified with the enhanced version. If you want to give it a shot, you would probably have to go to the enhanced version. The way I loaded mine was I copied and renamed my 'Steel Panthers World At War' folder first. Then I loaded the mod. This way, I can switch back and forth easily by just by renaming the folders. Works as long as you have the hard drive space to work with.

If you want to install the mod, you can find it at http://www.spwaw.com/
Go to that page and you should find it right in the middle of your screen when it loads.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
Gentlemen
Spwaw Enhanced FV.1 is the most recent verison of the Enhanced SPWAW Mod
available at www.spwaw.com
sounds like Grumbler has Version 2 of Enhanced.
SPWAW Enhanced is similar to the H2H mod but you could say maybe a more updated version of it.
and quite frankley, alot of the Old spwaw oob errors and inconsistancies that still existed in H2H, have hopefully been found and corretced
It has been nearly a year in the making.

REROMINE...
did you manulyy extract all your files to the appropriate folders?
there are a ton of files in Enhanced and they all go to different places, when installed manually.
The safest and easiest way is to use the 'modswap' program, as this was how Enhanced was meant to be installed and designed for.

for more info and Instructions go here.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
Hey Alby. Yep, used ModSwap. Considered doing it manually, but there were lots of files from all over. Changed my mind at that point. I did copy my SPWaW folder into another and renamed it so I essentually have two versions. Just have to change the folder name to switch back and forth.

RE: Boot Camp is OLD
I'm down to 22.23 gigs of hard drvie space. I might go thru thru the bother of upgrading WaW, then again I might just load something else. Mostly I play Conquests as a break from MBT, but that is getting old. I have Tac ops, maybe I'll load that. Let me have another cup of coffee and think on this. Get my other brain cell on line and see what it says.
