Keith,

Read Currahee`s post about reloads.

Then send a warning email to your opponent pointing out that reloading isnt allowed, and then contact me or Currahee (off board).

Hope this helps.

RE: reloads are putting me off this game
Nemesis and I had a problem with this, turns out it was my laptop power settings, as the battery on my laptop deteriorated i no longer had enough power to hibernate before shutdown. this led to multiple reload messages in my turns for Nem. It was our first game and his understanding nature and trust will long live with me as examples of true gamesmanship. Horribly embarrassing as a player I admit but luckily Nem gave me the benfit of the doubt. You obviously have to make your own decision but as someone on the other side of the hill as far as reload messages are concerned the only thing i can say is that cheating is not always the trigger.

RE: reloads are putting me off this game
Yes I understand your point, and if it happened at any stage of the battle it might be ok for the odd reload. But when the battle goes along with no reloads then just as the main battle starts multi reloads appear!!
ie 4-8 reloads per turn.!!!!!!!!!

I start to smell a rat.

RE: reloads are putting me off this game
I think that four reloads are too many to be an accident...Otherwise this alert is something strange...I was playing a GIO game with a good friend of mine and ever we have one or two reloads for turn...Perhaps in a huge game the program counts like reload only save the turn...

RE: reloads are putting me off this game
I frequently had 5 + reloads against someone.

So I know where Biderman is coming from.

RE: reloads are putting me off this game
hmm, i think bidermann may be referring to me as one of his oppoents with whom he gets reloads... or hopefully USED TO get reloads :)

they will sometimes happen when you're playing a number of scenarios at the same time and save, maybe they shouldn't but they do, so i think that this game feature needs improving, e.g i've been playing 4 scenarios and one of them is FitE, i can't play a FitE turn without saving - i usually do even 8 or 10 times during a turn, the same often happens with smaller scenarios, especially ones where there is a lot of micromanagement - a lot of small units and a great many different, carefully planned attacks - so i plan some, save, quit, do something else or play a different scen, then after some time go back, etc - and apparently this may produce reload messages...

this is rather anoying because when these things happen people may think you're cheating, which is not bad when you're really cheating :) but unfair when you're not, i also get some relods from some of my opponents now and then...

frankly speaking, i think that most of these reloads that happen to people are accidental resulting from a badly implemented game feature, this is so because everyone around knows that there are these anti-cheating features so who but a complete fool would try to actually deliberately cheat...

-------
Keith, this is important - do you still get these reload messages from my turns? - hopefully not becasue i try to finish the turns without saving - it can be really painful sometimes :(... (especially with FitE), i feel kind of uncomfortable about these messages because i think i've been doing pretty well in our scenario and now that you've informed you get the messages, it may seem that my 'successes' result from cheating...

cheers

---------
and just one more thing that came to my mind after i'd written the main post - it seems to me that playing this game is getting more and more frustrating and stressful, mainly because of these anti-cheating features which seem to take away fun from the game, it's just every time i open TOAW, i sweat and start thinking what to do and not to do, and how to handle the game, when or indeed whether or not to save, when or how to quit, etc. so that that some stupid reload message doesn't turn up - which is really turning into some kind of phobia...
it's like TOAW has suddenly become a foreign useless cup made of china which must be handled with great care becasue otherwise it'll break into pieces, instead of a familiar pint of beer which it should be...

---------
and yet another thing, it sometimes happens that when i get a turn file from one of my opponents i don't have the time to play it, but i'm curious about my opponents' moves and i only open TOAW to see these moves, having seen them and satisfied my curiosity, i simply quit and go on to do some other things like work or study, i think many players may behave like this, yet i suppose the game may count such behaviour as reloading, i don't mention that fact that it won't allow you to quit in a normal, 'casual' way but every time you want to do this it actually forces you to save

anti-cheating features are perhaps a goodd idea, but features that restrict your freedom and force you into some kind of artificial, silly behaviour are definitely not...

RE: reloads are putting me off this game
m5000 you are ok, I dont have any problems with you. Most turns I dont get any reloads from you, the odd one now and again fine.
