The first major US Air Assault operation against NVA (as stated above). Great idea and tactics, poor intell...hard fought battle. The story has all the elements of a classic Western Movie a la John Wayne!

I agree the movie was fine... the book was awesome.

I had the priviledge of seeing the movie on opening day, in our town, as can be expected, the theater was packed with Nam vets.

My wife went with me to the movie and she commented that it was the first time she had seen a room full of men crying.

Very moving.

Good Hunting.

I liked the movie and loved the book. Now for Dien Bien Phu and Street Without Joy (? I think that's the one about the ambush of the Mobile Group).

Funny, I can't remember the ending to that movie? How did it end, again?

RE: Mansions of the Lord
That battle was so like so many in NAM. Complete failure to understand that type of warfare by Senior American Military Commanders just like in Iraq IMO.

When you got a NVA Regt./Brigade pinned you don't send a couple of companies or platoons as a blocking force you send a dam division or a brigade at the least. You line up shoulder too shoulder and drive everything before you rats, dogs, ants, people, kids, snakes and butterflies just like the Mongols.

Hey NVA/Iraq Banditos you want a fight then I am going too give you a fight. It's all about the What Kurtz said the Horror the Horror.

Half A-- does not work.
