RE: CMSF reporting
Quote:In all fairness, the HPS and SqB ladders sanction WW2 and modern warfare together. There is no separation for the era, as the game system is the same.

Which isnt going to be the case with CMx2 which is a totally new engine and the only familiarity is prety much in the name and the company supplying it.

Just off the top of my head I can think of 2 major differences.

1: Playable in real time, not only is that a massive difference in and of itself, it implies a whole host of other differences.

2: Infantry is modeled on a man by man basis, not a squad basis. See above.

I'm quite looking forward to buying it, but if I don't like it I'll drop it.
If I do like it I'll do lots of tac test screenshots and stuff for Blitz.
The hook for me is seeing how well I can do against 'insurgents' in the mid-east generally, for example they've put 80 Abrams out of action and killed 3500 Coalition troops in Iraq since '03, so they're no pushover.
But we CM players are no pushover either.. ;)

Tanks take a beating in Iraq
By Steven Komarow, USA TODAY

The U.S. military's Abrams tank, designed during the Cold War to withstand the fiercest blows from the best Soviet tanks, is getting knocked out at surprising rates by the low-tech bombs and rocket-propelled grenades of Iraqi insurgents.
In the all-out battles of the 1991 Gulf War, only 18 Abrams tanks were lost and no soldiers in them killed. But since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq, with tanks in daily combat against the unexpectedly fierce insurgency, the Army says 80 of the 69-ton behemoths have been damaged so badly they had to be shipped back to the United States

What do you need me for? :whis: Two new entries in the database and you're all done :smoke:
Now,seriously,we can create the new ladder-because i believe we should have a new ladder,as soon as enough people have the game.

Fascinating photos, thanks for the link. Something odd that I noticed, though, is how many of the KOed Abrams have their turrets facing toward the rear. Am I just confused on this? If not, does anyone here know a reason why so many would be facing rearward when hit? (Or did they rotate after they were hit?)

RE: CMSF reporting
Because the bugger with the RPG ambushed them from behind and they were turning to fire at them?

So as long as the Syrian player has a nice dense urban map with gorilla tactics he may have a chance but if it's a stand up fight in the open they should get whitewashed.....unless they have some decent long range ATGM's.

cheers

Well, apparently, that tactic is not working too well for the tankers.

Confucius say: "Urban Guerrilla who fight in open should re-read definition of 'urban guerrilla' -- if they live long enough to try."

RE: CMSF reporting
Yeah I see your guys points... in that case all CMx2 games should be in a new ladder... I'll be buying it and if its as easy as Raz says to include it then why the hell not.

RE: CMSF reporting
The Syrian army has a lagre-ish number of fire and forget missiles that should take out an Abrams front side and rear, and what's the bet that a fair proportion of them happen to feature in the game?

Alternately, we've got a Stryker company and a keyholed platoon of T72s......and a time critical objective to achieve immediately, while unfortunately it just so happens that it would take 40 mins for air support to arrive.......

Or let's say we've been detached to rescue the crew of a downed Apache, and no one will send any more air assets into the region because of the number of man portable SAMS.

I'm sure we could think of lots of balanced scenario ideas, and so presumably can Battlefront. I doubt anyone would be silly enough to try T72s v Abrams out in the open. Unless, I spose, there were lots and lots and lots of T72 and they were sitting on a mountain of objective points! I guess you could work with anything at a pinch.
