FOO restriction and OP FIRE write ups.
Attached are two documents for players to DL. The first is the FOO restriction rule explained, and the second is the OP FIRE rule as explained to me by Walrus.
These articles will also be posted in the G4 section in the SP folder under articles, along with GAME PLAY TIPS FOR NEWBIES, which was a document we use to send out to BOOTS who joined up. This article provides lots of useful tips even for experienced players. It is long however, but still informative.[attachment=1146][attachment=1147]

RE: FOO restriction and OP FIRE write ups.
Hi All
I wrote that late at night, at speed and never checked it
So it is loaded with spelling and grammar mistakes, though the info is correct even though it is a bit garbled.
It was never intended as a treatise, just a quick explanation to a mate.
Probably a good thing I never got a chance to edit it or else it would be 20 pages long eh Chris
Hopefully it helps at least one Blitzer pull off a good ambush.
Hurrah!!

Well I was going to edit it, but I didn't want to change the wording and accidentally screw up the meaning and intent. It is fine the way it is.

Is the FOO restriction rule an optional house rule to be agreed upon before battle or is it now an official rule we all have to stick to?

RE: FOO restriction and OP FIRE write ups.
ALL rules in SP are based upon mutual player agreement, even the game results. So no it isn't a mandatory rule. You and your opponent can come up with anything you like, as long as both agree. Hell I am playing a couple of games right now that don't even use flags, the outcome is a mutual agreement of what we thought the battle showed.
What if you don't buy FOOs? Well if you and your opponent are using the FOO rule, and you don't buy a FOO then I guess you wasted points on artillery. 1 FOO = 1 SHOOT, 0 FOO = 0 SHOOT.

Cool.....sounds like a good rule, in CM each arty unit has a single spotter on board to call in rounds. If he gets it then no more arty from that particular asset.
Off track a little....does this mean that in real life ordinary dung beetles can't call in arty support? If so someone should tell Hollywood. ;)

How about a sticky, with all of the optional rules, so we don't have to hunt for them months from now?

Yeah, hollywood doesn't get too much correct. The three that always get me are:
1. artillery landing ten feet away, but since the round didn't land on you then you are ok
2. grenades that cause great big fire balls and throw people through the air; and
3. never ending magazines!!
