c_Question Mark  Maps For Designers?
Hi guys,

I am hoping some of you history buffs can direct me to sources for historical maps of WWII battles, or even modern maps of historical places...Thanks in advance!

Maps?

When I think of maps two club members come to mind.

Huib & Jason Pethro.

Wish I could help more.

Hi Legion, there are plenty of nice sites hidden away for particular battles but this is a good place to start :-

Example (can be magnified) :-

Huib has a nice method of using Google Earth for accuracy.
Cheers, Chris

RE: Maps For Designers?
Hi again,

My biggest problem is finding East Front maps - but in general, I'm looking for any kind of "jump start" to my searches, either on the web or out there in the real world. I read German well and my sister can do a little Russian, so primary sources aren't a problem....Thanks!

Here you can find most of the semi-modern East Front in Russian at 1:200,000. Although not the ideal scale for East Front mapping, you can get by.

They are all downloadable, but it will take you a LONG, LONG time to download them all.

Okay, thanks Jason! BTW here's a site I've found in my recent travels, some great eye-candy for Stalingrad fans - the 3D maps are pretty remarkable ---

RE: Maps For Designers?
I'm interested in creating modern war scenarios set in Germany, Korea and Saudi Arabia. What would be a good way to generate maps for these areas?
