Innovations from PzC need to be imported here!
The major flaws in the Napoleonic series, often mentioned here, like the overly powerful offense, can be rectified by importing some, and why not all, of the features of the PzC series, but for some reason, Mr. Tiller will not take the time to program the Napoleonic series properly. The biggest problem is that units may advance their full movement allowance and then melee into a hex. This means that an infantry unit may move 1000 yards on a road, through withering enemy artillery and musket fire, in the presence of massed cavalry, and then without missing a beat, assault into any hex, all in a 15 minute pulse. It's a joke. The Napoleonic series is tilted badly in favor of the offense and John won't do a thing about it, even though the programming gruntwork is already done for PzC. The answer to the problem is already a function of PzC: We can't assault into a hex without the requisite movement points. Why this isn't already imported into the Napoleonic series is beyond my comprehension. The programming is there. What's teh problem? Why the delay? von ege Cry

RE: Innovations from PzC need to be imported here!
My Waterloo oob helps (no inf more than 600, cav squadrons, arty sections), but does not go far enough.
A batalion marching along a road is not the same as a batalion in attack column, but will, if non Brit, get column attack bonus. Cavalry attacks in line but moves along roads in march column, yet must not change formation to charge.
Ege and I are playtesting a four day belgian battle scenario we have worked up. It is intended to reduce the advantage of the offensive, but being wargamers, we still find ourselves considering tactics more suited to blitzkrieg than Napoleonic warfare.
We have changed game midgame to one turn night turns, which may help on the night of 16/17 June. Panzer Campaigns has march fatigue, but I dont expect to se anything like that here, soon.
...We will soon learn if tweaking up of arty firepower helps the defense...
