Vista help – desperately needed ..
Guys … and Jason (many thanks to whom for getting back to my last posting so quickly) …

I am still having major problems with Vista.

I got game to play perfectly on the original version of Vista that came with my computer – which was not in English. Had an English language version put on and can’t get the game to work.

I follow all instructions, and loaded both of the Matrix CS disk’s updates 1.02 and 1.02B.

However, while I have eradicated the “White Flashing” problem, am now getting a message reading – "File Division 10.oob line 953: invalid reference number 1027013."

When I open WF OOB editor and I don’t get any unit size above division for any date. All other RS and EF OOBS are fine ….

And to really make it annoying …. none of the units can move in play mode. A message comes up saying “units cannot move through terrain” – which is daft when I’m playing Bootcamp 1 and trying to move US platoons across open grass …

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Matrix disk 3 times and the same problem ensures …

Also my machine appears to have difficulty reading the disk in order to install it …..

Any ideas on how to beat any of the above problems would be mush appreciated … as am now playing a lot of Matrix TOAW III cos’ it works on Vista fine …

Fortunately, this is not a Vista issue, this is an oob issue probably stemming from adding the US Marines to the US oob, but this will be corrected in 1.03 which is due out soon.

None of your units at all, for any of the games?

I would ensure that you installed the 1.02B TEMPORARY PATCH properly as it sounds like you are missing a file or two? I know the install for this patch can be a pain, with a number of repetitive steps, so it is easy to accidently misplace an element.

Hope that helps

I have XP and patched to 1.02b. I have several PBEMs going in RS and one WF. Today I had Japanese tanks unable to move through terrain that they had previously driven across. Opponent is USMC. Other units moved normally.

Can you post a couple of screens shots of the trouble hex, one in 2D and 3D.

A wild guess.
could be a map issue where the designer changed the feet per level setting to a higher one, than that of which the unit can traverse. Thus you can always go downhill, but not back uphill..

LOL not until Cole sends me a turn. I don't know what time it is over there.

Actually the tanks went uphill and now can't move down or level. I think the surrounding level may be jungle or have walls. The downhill is rice paddys. Maybe it rained since we started. Battle is "Twice Driven Off" in the playtest section.

Guys ...

Once again thanks for prompt replies.

Jason -- the answer is that no units can move -- regardless of WF, EF or RS.

I just downloaded it all again .. Matrix CD and update 1.02 -- and it all worked fine ... everything moves OK .....

I plan to download update 1.02B in a bit -- but am rather dubious ....

I have downloaded the 1.02B update from Matrix site three times already because I thought it could be buggy ... should I be getting only files for WF, EF and RS in the upgrade, or is there something that I'm missing that should go into CS program rather than individual files ... ?

I also found that by altering Vistas themes to "Classic Windows" you don't have to run the CS program in the "run older Windows programs" section - which seems to make the game somewhat unstable.

I'm not awake yet but here are the shots.
In the first pic the highlighted tanks cannot move at all. The tanks to the left will not move except into the rubble hex to it's left. Then the first tanks can move into that empty hex as shown in pic 02.

This can be duplicated. I started battle manual vs manual. Skip through turns until you can move the tanks into the hexes. The right side group cannot move until the left group moves left or up. The right group can then move left only.

BTW, I cannot see the elevation difference in 2D view. That is why I play in 3D.
