c_Question Mark  Jolly Roger - SP versions
:whis:

Hi folks,

I´ve played Steel Panther ( DOS ) 1 + 3,
SPWAW 8.4, SPH2H, SPWW2 and SPMBT.

In my opinion SPWW2 has the best game features and is
best for PBEM gaming.
But I like the sounds and the OOB´s of SPH2H more.
SPWW2 suffers in this issues from a lack of accuracy.

Now I´ve read about a new mod called "SPWAW enhanced".
I couldn´t manage downloading from SPWAW depot.
What´s your opinion, is this version of SPWAW better
than SPWW2 ?

Thanks for comments

Any version of WaW is better than WW2.

Hi Vesku,

some features of SPWW2 are much better than in SPWAW

- spotter planes
- obstacles, particulary trenches
- camouflage
- terrain graphics
- random map generator
- smoke

but compared to SPWAW, in SPWW2 I don´t like

- planes getting lost very easy
- no real recon abilities
- no realistic carpet bombing
- sounds

Have you tried the SPWAW enhanced mod,
is it a mod for SPWAW 7.1 or 8.4 ?

Thanks, Klaus

I hate the slow movement in ww2, it slows the whole game to a crawl. You need 30 turns for a normal battle. Arty is overpowered and tanks are useless against infantry.

I've tried Enhanced but it does not beat H2H. It has very good OOBs but the sixth sense is still present. It's on 8.4 if I remember correctly.

OK Vesku,

I usually play SPWW2,
but I will look out for opponents to test PBEM
SPH2H.

Cheers, Klaus

IMHO, winSPWW2 is vastly superior - much greater depth on virtually all levels of the game, compared to original WAW. My own experience with the series of Enhanced mods is minimal though..., just couldn't live without the mount/dismount movment penalty/op fire triggers etc extra stuff WAW lacks.

Once I thought WAW had an edge in graphics and sound but not anymore. IIRC the Enhanced mods use terrain and building icons from winSPWW2...

IMHO SPH2H is the best.
and the full real prefs-C&C feature makes it more serious.
those games without CC....like an easy toys for boys;);)

That´s right,
I was always looking for gamers who like
C&C too, but found out they´re VERY RARE

I like to engage the hardcore players.
So I would accept your challenge.

What´s your favourite side, time and
engagement.

I prefer to play german side ( as I am a german ),
1942 and advance/delay.

But I´m open for all other suggestions,
even for non - historical setups.
