SP WAW 8.4 Strike planes
Greetings everybody!
I have recently upgraded my SP WAW to the version 8.4 and found that even when I manually set certain number of air sections in preferences I actually very rarely get them available for purchase. Is it a new feature or am I missing something?

airstrikes depend alot on weather, so even though you have them if you get bad weather, they will not be available.
BTW, do not stick with V8.4 it has a spotting issue
update to v8.403
or better yet, try Enhanced version 8.403

Visibility is another variable that plays a big part, under 20 denies air forces.

RE: SP WAW 8.4 Strike planes
yes I will try to say more clear

Air support is heavily dependent on the Weather setting, as well as the national characteristics. There is a complex system in the Purchasing routine that checks the weather, the nation being purchased, the characteristic setting, the battle type and location, the date and time, and possibly other factors, to determine if that nation has Air Support available. This is, of course, supposing that the Air setting in the Preference screen is set to XXX, or the default.

To help ensure air availability, change this setting to a number (1, 2, 3, etc) that will allow up to that many of "air formations" to be purchased. It is still dependent on weather and location, to some degree, but air units will be more likely with this setting.

Hope this helps

Enhanced SPWAW is a mod like SPWAW H2Hfr was.
click on the link below to read up on Enhanced and also you will find the SPWAW 8.403 patch, plus mega campaign patches and many useful tools for the game, along with updated and newly released scenarios and campaigns.

SPWAW ENHANCED WEBSITE <---LINK

SPWAW Enhanced (8.403) is a complete rework of the OOBs, Graphics, Sounds, Gamecode Issues, and many other things too numerous to list.
Enhanced incorparates something from all of the Steel Panthers series of games, be it SP1,2 or 3, spww2, and spwaw, which all derive from the original Game "Steel Panthers"

The work on this project has been going on now, in one form or another, for nearly 3 years. Previous Versions (V1, V2, HTH and FV) paved the way for the latest, and best version: DV 2008 (Definitive Version).
There are actually TWO versions of the Definitive version (DV and DVRN)
The 'DV' version includes OOBs that use 'native' language for many of the units; Finland, Soviet, Yugoslavia, Norway, Germany, Japan, Romania, Hungary, Poland, and more. Not all of the OOBs have been 'translated'; some because the alphabets weren't compatible and we couldn't find anyone to give us the 'English-equivalent' (like was done with the Soviet and Japan OOBs), or because we couldn't get the translated words to fit the 15-character name limit.
The 'DVRN' version are the same OOBs, but with most of the 'native' language names put back into English. Some were left for flavour, if the word was decipherable into English (such as 'Mortier' for mortar).

Much more to read at the Enhanced site.....
