"Two Rivers" map for the North African theater
Two mostly dry rivers in N. Africa bisect this 1.2 km x 1.2 km map. A high ridge over stone bedrock has kept them apart over the ages. This was the place chosen a 100 years ago as the easiest to cross both rivers with the railroad. An ancient but still used caravan route comes through the one lonely village within 100's of miles. There are dry crossings at both river beds. Ruins of an ancient castle are on the dominent hill overlooking everything.
A high altitude shot looking south along the ridge. Axis sets up on the right, allies left. Barely visible is an Italian tank platoon on the center hill, and an AT battery setting up far south (upper right).
A ground view from the dominating castle site; again the platoon and battery are visible from a QB.
The view to the allied side, across the far bridge.. Brits are cowering behind the railraod embankment, under fire from 2 platoons of armor.
