Great Commanders
HiHi

Let’s see if there any interest in this;

List your top 10 commanders of all time, and if you wish, why you choose them, (be prepared to defend your choice though :) ).

The idea being not only to engage in debate re relative merits etc, but to maybe compile a definitive ‘List’ of Blitz top commanders (again if enough interest), I have said commanders so as to open up the field to Naval officers,( fly-boys ain’t been in the game long enough really).

Use whatever criteria you like, e.g. Leader of men, strategic or tactical brilliance, Ruthless, Noble cause, nice aftershave whatever, it’s your call, but keep it friendly. Whip

I’ll stick my neck out first off with;:soap:
1 Alexander the Great
2 Hannibal
3 Marlborough
4 Robert E Lee
5 ‘Bill’ Slim
6 Wellington
7 Admiral Nelson
8 Napoleon
9 ‘Stonewall’ Jackson
10 James Graham, Earl of Montrose.

Runners up, Eugene of Savoy & General Monash probably should be up there but I don’t know enough in detail about them to include.

Mmmm, :chin: not sure that’s my definitive list, but as it’s off the top of my head while being bored waiting for emails with battle files it will have to do for now :)

All the Best
Peter

RE: Great Commanders
I'm starting off with
Subotai
Alexander the Great
John S. Mosby
Vo Nguyen Giap
Francis Marion
Robert E Lee
Ulysses S Grant
Lord Nelson
George Washington
Napolean

I'll toss in Dwight D Eisenhower as an 11th hour choice, just to stir the pot :)
