Wardoggie's Germans adopt the simple but theoretically sound method of capturing the city by simply laying it waste around the ears of the shocked Russians..

RESULT JUST IN

HERROBERST 56, POS 44 (minor win for Herroberst)

1- Earlier Herroberst launched this Russian armoured thrust into my panzers as they were grinding up the hill..
2- Then after the strung-out survivors summited, he launched this second Russian thrust which finished most of them off, supported by a KV-2 trundling up the road..
(X's mark the tank wrecks of both sides)

CARGOL 54, POS 46 (Draw)

Cargol's main panzer body shakes out into line abreast for a gunfight and shots are exchanged, but the game ended before both sides could close further..

Congratulations to Herroberst for being one of the few to have actually scored a win as the Russians.

Also from the screenshot it looks to have been example of a successful pincer movement over the 'pack' mentality.

What pack? HO hit them with two separate thrusts, the first when they were strung out climbing the hill, and the second much later when they were still strung out and moving on the summit.
Look at the endgame pic again, the wrecks are all strung out.
Full marks to HO for attacking them on both occasions BEFORE I could get them into a tight pack..;)

Well the 4 Pz's, h/t and flakwagon at the bottom of the pic look fairly 'packish' to me.

I'd naturally assumed that as you are such a firm supporter of the 'pack' tactic that you would be moving your armour in one, and the reason that the other Pz's wrecks weren't all sitting on top on each other was that that was where they were knocked out as you moved them forward; my mistake.

Yes mate that's always the aim, but when you're moving a German battlegroup a very long way into enemy territory down a single road and fighting a series of battles en route under Sturmovik attack things tend to get a little er..strung out.
The German players are going to get quite a shock at just how difficult it is to keep their column together, that's why I said a while back that Green Light will test their movement skills to the limit to avoid traffic snarlups and concertina-ing.

PS- Hey mate enter the tourney, then you'd be better qualified to comment on it rather than being an armchair noncombatant..;)
Who knows, you might even do an 'End Run' and get your battlegroup clear down the whole length of the map to the Volga and capture all 6 flags.
So far only yours truly has managed it by punching through with tight panzer packs. Three times (below)..;)

There are times to use POS' pack and there are times not too. Using it all the time may spell defeat as with any overused tactic the opponent picks up on and takes advantage of. POS remains a formidable opponent and while I do not usually subscribe to the pack tactic it remains a tactic to use like all the others. In our game, POS chanced snatching the flag with less than a pack and paid the price. On the other hand I had hoped to get my left flank armor in place before he topped the ridge but was a bit late and the right flank armor was slow in getting into place as well so my plan of 6 T-34s, two guns, and 2 KV-2s set to fire on him when he topped the ridge did not come off as effective as I hoped.

Thanks for the offer but the idea of playing against someone who not only designed the map, but also picked the forces, and who has already played the scenario from both sides a total of 70 times really doesn't appeal to me somehow.

On top of that I don't own CMBB anyway ;o)
