Ha ha ha, I thought I'd heard the full range of excuses by people in my time for dodging a cmbb battle, but that takes the biscuit..:)

Yes mate, I'm not necessarily saying we should automatically form all our tanks into one big buffalo herd every game, rather we should chop them up into smaller packs or even hunting-pairs or singletons if and when the fluctuating tactical conditions call for it.
For example in an ongoing cmak game against M1A1 (below) I bought 12x Chaffees and am operating them in 3 packs of 4 machines each (narrow green arrows), using their high speed to hopefully get round the flanks of his big Stug pack while my US infantry advances directly on the flags (broad green arrow)

Odd, because as 'reasons not to do something' go I'd have thought that a pretty good one.

No really, I don't own a copy of CMBB. Russian theatre never interested me much so I've never bothered to buy it.

Kelen Wrote:the idea of playing against someone who not only designed the map, but also picked the forces, and who has already played the scenario from both sides a total of 70 times really doesn't appeal to me somehow.

The first time I played Green Light was when the tourney started, just like everybody else, so I never had a head start on anybody, heck i never even playtested it or anything..:)
Furthermore at the beginning of this thread announcing the tourney, I carefully laid out everything on the table for everybody to see in the form of stunning screenshots illustrating the exact forces of both sides, reinf schedules, arrival points, terrain etc, and I even made a few suggestions about possible strategies etc.
Of the 29 games finished so far, I only won 16 of them proving it's certainly not biased in my favour.
Oh, and because I'm the organiser I've banned myself from winning the hallowed silver trophy anyway..:)
35 people signed up for Green Light, eager for the fight..

I'm fully aware of that, I was merely clearly stating in response to your invite MY reasons for not wanting to take part and therefore remaining an 'armchair general'.

For those that have signed up I wish them the best of luck.

RE: GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY
I take some consolation (as Russians) that my Town on the Volga remained untouched by POS's ground attack (although the Stuka made many folks homeless). But overall, I am having fits keeping my German advance on track now, and know POS has his armor reinforcements already--which will make my end game very tough! POS already knows how my advance is progressing, so I'm not giving anything away when I say I am just now getting ready to hit the Woods sector. :(

Everything was fair in the Tourney...OOB's, etc., were posted for both sides in advance. But this one strikes me as more of a (very large) ''logistics style'' battle, and I think I am just over my head beyond 1500-2500 point games in general anyway. (Personally, I liked the Malitz & Trident Tournaments better.)

Still...an interesting tourney....;)

Ekrommen's 2 Russian guns (57ATG and 76IG) begin speaking in harsh guttural tones and wreck a panzer..

One of Booties panzers is flamed on the street but the other two survive and one sweeps on to the flag chased by more fire (inset), before the FT was quickly put out of action next turn..

RE: GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY
RESULT JUST IN

MIKEY 43, POS 57 (minor win for POS)

My panzers tried to enter the town in two columns but began taking keyhole hits from Mikeys tanks firing between the buildings in defence of their town, so after taking some losses I called off the attack with a couple of turns left rather than risk my minor winning advantage..

RE: GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY
It was a relentless slaughter for the first 12 turns...

First 4 flags fell with minimal Germans losses, as I was unable to establish any sort of defence before being mercilessly overrun...

The 57mm AT gun on the hilltop managed to pop 3 PZIV's before succumbing....

The Sturmovik iced the AA HT and a PZIV, at least...

Managed to start trading tanks in the town, and would hold that flag for a minor defeat...

GG POS.
