Favorite war movie?
The Valkyrie thread led me to wondering what everyone's favorite war movie is?
I think my all-time favorite is probably 12 O'Clock High. In addition to being just a great story, it has completely authentic B-17s and loads of aerial combat footage.

Caution to the Wind ! Dont judge me chaps ... but, " Kelly's Heroes " ... Clint Baby and adherence to reality (the BAR always jammed ...Tigers and their fuel pump problems etc ) and of course my favourite line in any movie from Oddball in the middle of an urban firefight -
Clint " What are you doing?"
oddball "I'm drinking wine and eating cheese,
and catching some rays. You know?"
livin' the dream .....

I really liked "Enemy at the Gates" - Ed Harris played an excellent German sniper - complete with the steely blue eyes and all. In fact I'm hoping someday for a wargame ala "Call of Duty" where you can just crawl around Stalingradwith a sniper rifle - in a campaign format.
I have to give a nod to the "Band of Brothers" series, too.

Das Boot. Great flick, even with subtitles.

The Winter War...a very excellent movie if you haven't seen it.. you're missing out on a top notch flick!
of course I've watched Kelly's heroes more times than I can remember and it's still one of the best over all fun flicks to grab a snack and a drink and waste 2 hours with....
Friends all tried to warn me
But I held my head up high
All the time they warned me
But I only passed them by
They all tried to tell me
But I guess I didn't care
I turned my back and
Left them standing there
