Thumbs_Down  IIHF
Anyone watching the World Juniors? What a boring tournament to date; the games have been lousy for sure. Yesterday Canada beat Kazakhstan 15-0 and registered 69 shots to their 11. Not fair to Kazakhstan either, they had to play Germany the night before so little rest to them. And it wasn't right for Pat Quinn to run the score (I know total goals is important in tie breakers) like that and embarrass the other team

Hope it gets better.

Is it better now? I did not watch it because the schedule collides with my sleep (Central Europe time), but I was pleased to hear that our slovak boys defeated the Yanks ;). Now I have to watch the match against Sweden to see, if it was only luck or if they really can play ice hockey. Big Grin

Cheers

Slovak team has been a big positive surprise. It was a shame they won FinlandCry but now I'm in the Slovak bandwagon for sure:cool:. But my bet is that Slovakia winning the US just paved the road for Sweden-Canada final...

cheers,

It hurts Big Grin, but I have to agree with you. It often happens in other sports ( mostly soccer), that our buddies win against somebody by surprise and then they think they can beat everybody. Usually, they get the c..p beaten out of them afterwards. Especially by the Czechs :).

Swedes have a really good team and it would be even bigger surprise if Slovaks could beat them. Russia vs Slovakia, that would be a nice final :)

Yeah, but it will not be. :) Honestly, Sweden was better yesterday. They really deserve it to be in the final.

RE: IIHF
I was hoping Slovakia would beat Sweden, just because I love the under-dog. Canada played like a bunch of wankers against Russia; both goalies were horrible. Our goalie (Toskala) couldn't stop a beach ball from going between his legs, I hope Pat Quinn doesn't start him in the gold medal game. The Russian goalie was fine down low but everything over his blocker shoulder went in.

If Canada plays the same tomorrow then it will be Sweden gold.

RE: IIHF
You have Toskala? Really? Isn't he the Leafs goalie? A Finn?

Must be a Freudian slip from a hardcore Leafs fan. Not only is Vesa Toskala a Finn but also slightly over-aged. :)

Should be Tokarski..

Right, and the bonus of an easier final.. ;)

Another Sweden - Canada final, I hope we're luckier than last year when Canada scored two weird pinball goals.
The Swedish team is very experienced with one NHL player (Oscar Möller) and almost everyone else playing in the Swedish Elite League. They have been playing inconsistently so far with great ups and very deep downs.

RE: IIHF
Same thing....I thought that name sounded too familiar but was too lazy to confirm.

Those elite league players get paid 3 million per year?! That is what Pierre Mcquire said (what a weenie that guy is).

I think all the teams have been up and down like yo-yo's; Canada played best against USA (that game was like the gold medal game..wow) and horrible against Russia.

Six hours from now it all starts..
