Where do you purchase your military books?

Looking for suggestions on where people purchase their military books. Currently I buy online using Amazon.com, but I don't like their search engine. I also buy and browse at the local Barnes & Nobles, but they don't have a large selection.

Also, is the Military Book Club any good?

I tend to go to Amazon first to check details and reviews and then look on the price comparison site BookButler for the best deal. That has international coverage but seems to have more of a UK focus but maybe that's because I am accessing it from there. Its some years since I used the Military Book Club - at the time its range was far inferior to Amazon.

I often do buy from Amazon in the end, for the prices, but I look for things at Stone & Stone. An excellent military history book finder and database, exclusively.

New books I buy mostly from Amazon as they offer free postage and packing in the UK, that's unless you want it ASAP sent 1st class.

I've bought a lotta books secondhand, just picked up "Kharkov anatomy of a military disaster" by D Glantz from ebay at a third of the price from most bookstores.

Amazon is good for finding lots of books, and many really cheap used ones....

Edward Hamilton Bookseller (http://www.edwardrhamilton.com/) for cheap books as well. Powells.com for a wide range of books. Their store in Portland had the biggest selection of war books I've ever seen. I do belong to the Military Book Club, but only to get the 5 free books to start. Their prices are OK, a little pricey, but sometimes their specials are pretty good.

I find the book I like & look for a used copy on ebay. I have purchased several that way.

You also would be surprised what you could find at the public library.

Amazon is good for new / mainstream books.

Military book club is OK, but selection is surprisingly limited. If you wait for the quarterly sales you will get a pretty good value buying one and getting one free or etc.

For historical oddities or long-out-of-print books, I love Alibris:

I picked up a beautiful first edition copy of With Napoleon in Russia there a couple years ago for $25. The seller lists the quality of the book, but Alibris backs it up if you're not satisfied.

Sometimes useful books which are out of print are available at Google Books, which is also a good place to start a search.
Rare or expensive titles can sometimes be gotten through interlibrary loan, which is also a good way to judge if the book is worth purchasing.
