Which version do you prefer?
If you could play any version of SP, and have as many opponents and games as you wished, which version would you play?

RE: Which version do you prefer?
I have played all but SP2 and SP3. I would have liked to have had the chance to play SP3. I would think that platoon level would be less tedious for larger battles.

I played it at a friends house and must admit I wasn't impressed. To me it seemed like regular Sp with a 4 written above a tank to represent 4 tanks. Dull.

SP3 isn't that good. You lose immos and damaged tanks for example. It's also old tech and had some problems.

RE: Which version do you prefer?
All of the original Steel Panthers versions had issues that would be intolerable compared to the finely crafted improvements in both the SPWAW and SPWW2/MBT lines. SP3 for instance introduced helicopters, and when used well they owned the battlefield, given that they were much more invulnerable to ground fire than the SPMBT units and their rocket packs splattered everything in the hex.

I've been a SPWW2/MBT devotee for some time, but H2H is winning me back of late.

SP Enhanced of course, seeing how I have worked on it for going on 4 years now...Big Grin

BTW 'official' name is SP Enhanced, not SPWAW Enhanced.

I'd be glad to follow the advice in your tagline and try it to see if I like it, but what I downloaded the other day was a very large .spm file.

I have no idea what to do with that ...

The process is fairly simple, but I'll guide you through the steps. To start with, let's download the required files, SP ENHANCED 2009 Mod File (around80megs)
Place it inside your SPWAW/Mods folder (inside spwaw main folder)
Don't unzip it! Well, you can if you want to, but there is no need - mods usually come as .SPM files (Steel Panthers Mod), but, they can be installed as zips as well.

We're almost there! To install the mod, we will use a special utility called the "ModSwap". This powerful tool allows us to install the mod while creating "back-ups" of the original files. So later, if we choose so, we can always uninstall the mod, and everything will be back to normal. So switching between SPWaW v8.3-8.403 and SP ENHANCED is quite easy!

Open up the ModSwap (you'll find it among the other SPWaW applications under the Start menu). Select "File/Install..." Browse to the folder where you have the mod. If you don't see the mod immediately, change the "Files of type" to "SPM" or "ZIP", whichever type the particular mod happens to be, inthis case SP ENH 2009 is an SPM File. Now you should see it. Simply click on the mod, and hit "Open". In the screen that follows, select "OK".

This is it! You have successfully installed the mod!
To uninstall open modswap again, highlight the installed mod and then choose 'file/uninstall', and your game reverts back to its original form.
I wish you loads of fun with Steel Panthers: Enhanced! Cheers!

RE: Which version do you prefer?
Caveat, if you have more than one install, ModSwap finds the last install.

RE: Which version do you prefer?
Ah, OK. I was waaaaaay off thinking this might patch into my ancient 7.2 H2H install. After downloading 8.2/8.403 it works fine and looks very interesting at first glance. Thanks.
