Extreme assault?

You further went on to take a shot at Alphons (which is strictly the domain of Mr. RR) also in post #73 here:
Wow! :chin:

Actually, your reply is rather scary and somewhat enlightening, especially coming from a scenario designer. It tells me that some scenario designers do not understand the impacts of EA on either game design, flow, or victory conditions. It also tells me that these same individuals (with just a cursory glance at scenarios they have never played), readily dismiss other players' (who actually PLAYED and COMPLETED scenarios using EA) comments on the impact of EA to scenarios. Wow! :chin:
I'd like to publically take exception to the above "bolded" comment.
RR, does not take shots at Herr Huib. Especially if "taking shots" means that I make an extraodinary effort to snipe at Huib.

It's true that I think that Herr Huib most times offends me with his arrogant and self aggrandizing posts, which he rains down upon the "unwashed masses".
Herr Huib comes across that he thinks that I and others need to bow at his "greatness" in making scenarios, which I find are mostly either unbalanced and/or not fun to play.
I think that Herr Huib represents viewpoints from "inside the team". Those viewpoints often display that the team believes that they know what is best for the game and any opinion other than that which is "blessed by the game changers" will be dismissed in any form they wish to dump upon us. As an "insider" he posts from a "position of power" that holds others hostage to his words (and deeds within the development process) and really come across as harrassment.

I thought that Herr Huib's response to mWest on the merits of von Niemack's game design was an illustration of all my above comments concerning Herr Huib. To say that Extreme Assault does not effect the scenario is not what I think. I thought mWest made a valid point that was never made invalid.

Does any, "past bad blood", mean that I lay in wait to pounce on Herr Huib's every word?
No. Nor will I not make a comment upon any Herr Huib post if I do not agree with what he is stating. I also post when I agree with him?
I have read the opinions of numerous posters who disagree with what Herr Huib writes, so I am not exclusive in that area?

Others have made the effort to "slam" me for posting a contrary opinion. I try not to let it bother me. I am here for the game. Until the development team makes it a game I can no longer support I will continue to defend the scope and scale of CS and resist the changes that I feel are ruining it.

BTW, I am not slamming Hawk in this post. I used his quote, and comment, to illustrate what I believe is an incorrect view of what I think and how I take action upon it. My only desire is that the game does not get changed to the point where it is not "the game" anymore. After so many years of playing it, that would be the real crime of Extreme Assault?

cheers

OMG
As he is fairly new here; maybe he should just stop playing you, and he'll have a less negative attitude... just a thought. I wonder what you've everything told him while you guys were playing 'unexpected'. Your statement that the scn should not be played with extreme assault because of the GERMAN chances was rather unconvincing, especially where the initial complaints were about Germans holding out too long.

Huib

This could not be a better illustration of my above post?

My version of "Herr Huib" gone wild. :smoke:

I left off a smiley. Sorry about that. Let me know if you would like me to edit the post. It was meant in pure jest.

I did not take it as such at all.

I have also reflected on Hawk's statements and our exchanges... and believe that it is best for me follow through with Option #3 - which is not play CS for now.

Mike, it's a good game no matter what the rules and I, for one, have yet to play anyone I haven't enjoyed playing and would bet if you stop to think the same might hold true for you. There's another solution; merely resign from the forums. Quitting something you enjoy just because someone insists on calling something black that you feel should be called blue needs reconsidering after a good night's sleep.

Besides, we haven't played yet.

There have been two complaints made against this thread today by "non-combatants". If you can't post without being snarky please don't post at all. Neither I, nor the CS Leaders want the discussion stifled, but if you can't say "Extreme Assault" without spitting and grumbling you've lost the bubble. Please stop or the thread will have to be locked.

Thanks.

Well let me start out by apologizing to RR, Hawk, and Hobbes for just dropping out without notice. That was inconsiderate of me.

I will make this short. I did not care for the EA rules with the change in 1.04, and for me the "option" just makes it more of a pain in the a** as I now have to limit myself to like minded players or to try and keep track of 2 different styles of play and which games they are activated on. Baloney! If I wanted to play a game like Steel Panthers, I would have bought Steel Panthers.

I first joined the club in 1999 and the game used to be fun. For 9 years I couldn't wait to get on the computer and play my next turns. I refused to move on to CM when everyone else did because I liked the CS. The EA changed the "playability" of the game dramatically and slowed it down to a crawl and I found myself grudgingly playing my next turn. Then when there were some other posts in Jan. about making further changes in the name of "reality", I chose Hawk's third option, stopped playing and deleted the game from my computer.

A bit extreme? Yea, but that is just the way I am. Fiery

Just my 2 cents,

Gavin

Erik,

Leave it as is. No need to edit. I knew you were kidding. I'm just not sure that any of the "non-combatants" knew you were kidding. :smoke:

Good to hear from you Gavin.
I hope all is well with you and your family?

Thanks for stopping in and letting us know where you were! :)
Sorry that your experience with the new CS has caused such grief that would make you stop playing and remove the game from your computer. That speaks volumes from a player who was at it for so long.

Good luck and if you ever want to battle, sans Extreme Assault, let me know?

cheers

RE: Extreme assault?
Well it seems that the discussion of extreme assult rules has turned into a snipe and *itch fest about who said what about, who really cares. I personally like the new assult rules but as anyone who played me before knows that I'll play with any rules. I really can't see how playing a GAME can bring out such bad feelings toward each other about whats being said.

People its just a game, and to think that somebody can get to a point of quiting because of a discussion is just crazy. I know that most of the people have a lot more time and years playing and supporting this game and the web site than me. I just sit here at my computer and shake my head over the way ADULTS are acting towards each other over a game. Its a game and no more, so some don't like the new extreme assult rules and some do, I think we can all agree that the 2 parties will never agree about it. One party will never convince the other, so lets agree to dis-agree and discuss something else. Like why an I getting a foot of snow tonight. It doesn't matter anything but I didn't say this and you said that.
