In Budapest I have noticed that some German artillery have a range of 9 and others have a range of 10. The description is identical, 105mm leFH, except the range 9 are horse drawn and the range 10 are motorized. Does the method of transport affect range that much or are the actually different weapons?
In most other titles the 105 has a range of 10 IIRC.
I don't see it - sorry James. Maybe tell me what scn you are looking at and two hexes, with units of different ranges. From what I can see the two components:
105mm leFH (mot)
and
105mm leFH (hs)
...have the same values.

Well..since I played Budapest, thought I would take a look, and yes....some 105's have a range of 10, others 9.
Main campaign...441231_01: Konrad Campaign.
Look in Budapest..105mm leFH(mot) hex (125, 76)
Hard 6/10
Soft 14/10
105mm leFH(mot) hex (129, 76)
Hard 6/9
Soft 14/9
First one belongs to the SS 8th Division, while the second one belongs to the FHH panzer.
Hmm...after searching around the map a bit..the German/Hungarian 105's are range 9..only the SS seem to have a range 10. I guess they train the shells harder so they can go farther :)
All sillyness aside, I played a couple hundred turns of the campaign without ever noticing the difference, and doubt it would have mattered if the range was 9 or 10...
Hmm, good catch though. I checked the version I used for testing the game for Glenn, from 2 years ago, and the 105mms were all a range of 10, across the board. Then I installed the update from HPS and it does have the 9 range for the Wehrmacht units, and the 10 for SS. Interesting.
As you say, probably not a disaster having the difference but I am sure Glenn will get the ranges back in synch for the next update of Budapest.
