Here's a fun little situation thats developed in one of my games with HO;

It's late in the game (35 of 40+) and one of my snipers thats been left behind in the rush is sneaking up on a forgotten flag because you never know right?
Turns out as well as at least a mortar (probably shot out) garrison there's also a captured MG team.

So in homage to big Bank Holiday Films and in the true spirit of Steve McQueen I'm going to try and sneak the sniper in and rescue the prisoners!
From you lot I'm looking for hints tips schemes thoughts cheers boos etc. Can it even be done? Is a sniper enough to free a captive? What else is hiding in the woods?
HO and I are zipping through the turns right now so it should all be over pretty quickly but we are "live" so I dont know how its going to turn out and you can and will influence the action.

I do not know what kind of effect that 1 sniper will have on prisoners, never had the chance to try it out. Hope that it works for you.

I meant to say also he's only a regular sniper, no super soldier so if he makes it it'll be a victory for regular guys everywhere

Does your sniper have any ammo left? I'll be interested to see how this plays out...a good little side drama at the close of the battle!!

The first turn is a bit of an anti-climax I'm afraid;



Danicke creeps closer and the mortar icon turns generic, as you can see MB he has 3 shots left for the rifle plus his trusty Luger....dont touch that dial, we'll be right back after these messages.

For the next orders phase I just leave him sneaking to the shellhole, we'll have a wee look round at the end of next turn and see what we're going to do next.

Sweat dripping from his brow he edges closer. Peering over the edge of the crater an inf squad appears at 24m range;



Like a well oiled machine, Danicke shoots with the rifle but though we get a face plant there's no scream.



By turns end seems the wily HO has an MG on guard too. The captured MG remains captured so what to do now? Here's the scene and to add to the tension, out of shot a halftrack is approaching though i may take him out with a company HQ I've got hiding out en route.

Try to sneak away before you lose your sniper - I don't think he's powerful enough to do anything but die with a mg and a squad in the area.
