Who Do You Invite?

Who Do You Invite?
Just for s&g's there's no wrong or right answers.

You can invite EIGHT people to join you for a leisurely weekend at a isolated country manor (or similar secluded setting, where is not relevant).

There will be slow and well-paced meals and, of course, long conversations, in fact, that's the whole purpose of the weekend.

Who MUST be there?

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ALIVE (now).

Here is my list for this weekend, off the top of my head.

Sting
James Hetfield
Bernard Fellay
Richard Dawkins
Rahm Emmanuel
Laura Ingraham
David Patraeus
Ayman al-Zawahiri

You do not have to predict who will be alive at the end.

So… your list?

Eight (PLUS yourself as ring master).

RE: Who Do You Invite?
I like this thread. My list is a little more light-hearted than Paul's, but here it goes:

Kevin Smith
Christian Bale (you just know he is gonna say something interesting)
Saran Michelle Gellar (I refuse to use Prinze)
Bruce Campbell (the man with the chin)
Vladimir Putin (I’m not counting his translator)
Angelina Jolie

and finally...

James Carville and Rush Limbaugh (to be locked in a room together with a two-way mirror for the entertainment of the rest of the guests. Raw meat may be dropped into the room at various intervals to keep it interesting)

I hope my list isn't too plain, but it would be a weekend to remember in my book and everyone would have to double or triple bunk...

Paul Sinatra
Jim Mays
Razvan chris
Shane Greer
Chris Ireland (the seal clubber)
Marcus Dominey
Jason Young (the good cunt)
Brian Bedford (and any 3 hats that he can carry)
Darren Fowler OK, so he can sleep in the barn :)
Mark Higgins (he can lobby all he wants)
Tony York (the entertainment)
Jason Petho (he can draw us maps to get there)
Antoni Chmielowski (the beer Meister)
Slawomir Walenczykowski
Kelvin
Andrew Young (new talent)
Alan Florjancic (the quiet one)
Dennis Suttman (one of the old guard)

While not the most famous in the world, certainly company worth the memories and I'm sure the conversations would be as loud and interesting as any

RE: Who Do You Invite?
Okay, I like this question and it deserves some serious thought. It needs to be stimulating but not too highbrow for a whole weekend. Some entertaining characters and storytellers who would discuss stuff I like. So....

Richard Attenborough (To tell us about the making of 'A Bridge Too Far')
Jeremy Clarkson (To wind everybody up and keep it lively)
Bob Dylan (+Guitar)
Bear Grylls (Boys own tales of Adventure)
Hugh Fearnley-Wittingstall (He can cook the stuff Bear Grylls catches)
Brian Blessed (After dinner speeches)
Bernard Cornwell (Teach me how to write a ripping yarn)
Renee Zellweger (just to sit next to)

Now that's a good weekend!

RE: Who Do You Invite?
HiHi

Summer Glau and 7 beds ... Oh! ... Not those sort of slow and well-paced meals then, and not Fantasy Island as the venue. :(

Right then, the female contingent provides both Beauty & intellect and will hopefully bring out the competitive nature of the males to stimulate Classy conversation

Summer Glau
Maybe not overly intelligent but would certainly provide a vision of loveliness.

Karen Armstrong
Author of ‘A History of God’ and other thought provoking religious books

Liz Greene
Author of ‘Dreamer on the Vine’, a qualified Jungian analyst and Astrologer

Neil Young
Brilliant Musician/Lyricist

Joss Whedon
Coz he gave us ‘Firefly’ and brought Summer into our world.

Richard Dawkins
As he thinks a lot like me, would also provide an interesting foil for Karen Armstrong

David G Chandler
Very good writer on Military matters

John Cleese
Highly intelligent man, and a comedian of the highest order.

As far as I know, they are all still alive, good post Paul, when this one has run its course maybe a similar one only including folk not now alive ???

All the Best
Peter
