RE: Russians ONLY "Little Saturn" No Germas Pls
Hi CW;

Anything I might help shed some light on? We need your input and ideas on the next move, so It'd be great if we can clear up any confusion.

Regarding your T-70, if I understand correctly, Ratzki will do a random "check" at the end of your battle to see if our maintenance guys are able to do a field repair of the gun - if not, it'll be out of the game. Ratzki, please let me know if this is wrong.

Hope this helps a bit!

I regret to advise that we have suffered a serious reversal in the North Battle in the last minute of play. My bold gamble, ah, did not play out as I'd hoped. The plan was to run 2 T-70s to try and get the last 2 flags. I had all other units hold or advance, basically waiting for the clock to end

However, the evil fascists had other plans!

A T-34 and my T-70 HQ tank brew up by a previously un-sighted gun. It must be a 75mm or better by the way they blew up with one hit. The next turn I lose that second T-70. Cargol played it perectly, letting some T-70s go by until a T-34 came into sight. We'll have to see how it all shakes out as to how many flags we get to keep, and how much infantry I lose. Very disappointing!

After a fierce fight throughout the afternoon, your tropps manage to gain a good foothold in the town. Your forces have control of everything east of the railroad, and though some armor did manage to penetrate enemy lines, they had to pull back after taking some losses as well as having no infantry support to hold the ground that they captured. No information about the Germans was obtained from this battle. Your task force "A" and "B" did manage to link up just south of you position here in the north battle. Your forces now look like this:
I will be updating the map and front lines as the last 2 games finish up.

Ok, here are both the games that are finished so far, one from willow and Cargol(North), and one from herroberst and Joonny(Centre).
The enemy has disengaged, Your men report that they have found about 130+/- dead or severely wounded German soldiers from 2 different companies and 5 various platoons. Most are Luftwaffe Infantry with few Regular Infantry. The T-34 with the damaged gun will be abandoned in the field as there is no access to repair crews. (The tank was rolled for to see if the damage was a field fix, and it was not)
I will have to wait and see what the other 2 battles provide to make a decision on the map, but the Germans that you fought will have no influence on flag possesion.

Your Task Force looks as follows:

I will add the final games as they are finished.

Well we are still pressing forward as it is imperative that we take that intersection and get a good foothold in the right side tree line - troops are preparing for assault up centre tree line once the T34s have dealt with the AT gun on right and we have softened up the right side tree line ...

After a little confusion on the German side, I decided to post a little update on the overview map. This is just quickly done so that you know what the situation looks like so far. With the battlemaps that I draw, things do not work out as planned. Sometimes due to the limitations of the editor, I have to distort the maps somewhat. So here is a little peek, the German units showing would be a good guess by your men as well as reports given after the battle. Take them for what they are, if a German unit did not fire, it will not be shown, and distance from your men as well as the fact that reports were often exagerated play a part too.

Hey Combat Wombat, what do you think in the next round of skirting the city to the south along that major road and getting behind the airfield? I will keep pressing in the center to keep their attention. Willow what do you think of going deep, skirting the city to the north and cutting supply roads to the opponents?

Do we have another player in the south? If so I would look for him to go deep and then cut north to cut off opponent supply roads.

I'm thinking this would be more fun than getting involved in a street for street fight. If we isolate and cut off the opponent in the city, which seems to be Luftwaffe security troops, then they will be so weak as to be no problem for us to take the airfield later on.

We may be assigned addtional players and I would feed them onto the flanks as well, avoiding German strength and causing him to panic as we threaten his supply lines.

I think we have succeeded in getting the Germans to think we're going to grind into the city so curling out of the city and behind them should be fun.

Since my forces are in pretty good shape would see giving you both most of the reinforcements. I will just keep bashing my way into the city using tank fire.

The 82mm mortar batteries I bought as reinforcements will be useful to counter guns. If you keep your armor relatively together and volley fire in response to gun fire they won't be too much trouble but if you advance your armor singley they will be picked off.

There is an element of risk, in the real battle, 16th Panzer Division showed up and destroyed the Russian raiding forces but I still favor a battle of maneuver over a city grind - more fun, more interesting.

What say you?
