Turn 19

DK makes the same mistake at owl, firing 60mm rounds at one of Owls dead infantry units.

DK seems to be re-grouping his armor

Owls LMG team gets a facefull of fire and quickly routs.

DK is pulling back his AA HT into the relative safety of the woods.

DK's assault on KG-D begins.

He only comes into contact with 2 teams and a squad but DK's squads feel the need to fire off a rifle grenade.

Turn 20! nearly 2/3s of the way through!

I have to hand it DK, i thought he'd gone on the defencive but he gives us a masterclass in how to mess up a plt of enemy inf with minimal casualties.

Below DK has a line of troops around Owl, the white lines indicate area targets, thats 1 ft and two "use explosives".

This next sequence of shots show how differently troops can behave. First this team takes a facefull of fire, no casualties but they are only pinned, this one was close too! when i watched this through as the allies i thought he'd instantly routed them as they had a run order which caused them to run away a few seconds later, luckily for Owl!

Next this squad, simply pinned before the demo charge comes in

The demo charge detonates, but again causes no casualties but this time the squad instantly routs! Both squads are in command also.

This squad really suffers during this turn, full squad at the start, pinned but holding up.

The grenades fly in and they panic

And a demo charge finishes the job. The squad is down to 4 men, thats 5 casualties in 60 seconds.

And things just keep getting worse for owl, one of his StuGs gets bogged, it's gun facing away from the woods! It can still fire its turret MG at them but it has little ammo.

And it gets immobilised! The ground is only damp not wet, and the StuG gets immobilised within one turn, how unlucky! It is just typical of this game to immobilise one of your much needed HE chuckers with its gun facing away from where you need it.

Turn 21.

Oh dear KG-D is done for!

Owl tells his remaining mobile StuG to fire at the infantry, but while still hunting forwards.

But little does he know DK's M10 can see it, it fires and scores a kill!

Here is KG-D in the woods, there is only 1 man in there who isn't routing or broken.

In an extremely bold move, Owl rushes his StuG forward to try and help out.

And it nearly costs him dearly, 2 bazookas lock onto it.

And one excellent shot scores a penetration, no serious damage however.

Owl is moving a plt of inf into the gap left by DKs withdrawing recon units.

Turn 22

KG-D is all but wiped out, all the infantry is either eliminated or broken and there is only one immobilised StuG here.

Owl hunts his StuG forward and DK does the same with his M10, the hedge is blocking their LOS at the moment but only just. Both are unbuttoned and both are easily capable of penetrating the others armor, the first shot to hit will win this one.

Owls entire left flank has now crumbled, hopefully DK will not try and mop up the remnants and will push back up and try to envolope Owl. DK has a great opportunity to completely surround owl as both of his flanks are very flimsy.

Turn-23

Owl tells his StuG to area fire but while still moving forward on hunt. Very risky IMO as he could easily have been caught by the M10 while reloading, fortunatly for owl he didn't.

Both the M10 and the StuG are still hunting forwards but the hedge is still between them. DK is also rushing his inf in the woods back up to the front.

On the western edge of the town, DK rushing all his inf back to deal with KG-D left a bazooka and M1919mmg team very alone and they surrendered. The jager plt's advance is checked by the AA HT that DK has advanced forward again, Owl is also moving 2 plts forwards from the town towards the woods.

On DKs right things have been fairly static, I'm suprised he has over a CO of inf and most of his armor here, this is where I was expecting his main push, looks like he's cautious of all the armor here.

DK thinks the better of going H2H with that StuG and throws up a smoke screen. Confident he has destroyed any resistance in the woods he pushed back up.

After all that jockying for position between the M10 and the StuG a zook team in the woods takes out the StuG

DK has been redressing the armor battle so it is now 9-4 in fully functioning AFVs. Hopefully these past few turns will spur DK onto trying to take the rest of the flags.

Der K is now in the driver's seat somewhat. The abundant infantry should be enough to gain another flag along with his remaining armor. Owl is in a bit of a tailspin at the moment, lets see if Der K can quickly take advantage of the situation. I suspect Owl will just try to shore his gains up for the remainder of the battle, while Der K still has enough punch to make one more attack on a flag with his main group.

Still the action is centered on the western edge of the town.

DK keeps on pushing up towards the town.
