RE: A New (Old) Idea for a Team Battle
Great news about 2ndLt_Fjun.

Put me in for a Captaincy on the Allied team.

I assume we don't intend to start until the new update comes out?
It's due sometime in December, probably before Christmas.

Thanks Fred. I'll send you an email regarding the teams/rules/set-up. They only player I don't have official confirmation from is Ratel - I'll email him to see if he is interested.

Commanding your own company is fine...in my mind, it's totally up to you as team leader to spread out the points as you see fit. I'll have something to you by this evening.

Thanks for reminding me about that...although I just got into the AP tournament and I have trouble downloadind multiple versions for some reason. We'll get the teams and rules set - then see where we stand in that regard. Probably best to update.

RE: A New (Old) Idea for a Team Battle
Just one thing, I'm leaving on a business trip tomorrow morning. I'll only be back by late Thursday night and then I am taking my family away during the weekend. Thereafter I have another business trip next Monday and Tuesday. After that, I should be fine for quite some time to come.
I won't be able to read the forums while away. So don't worry if you don't hear from me for the next week. If you don't hear anything from me by Wednesday, 16 December - then start worrying.

Fred,

Sent you an email with Teams break-down and initial setup info, but had some issues with my email. Did you get it or should I try to resend?

RE: A New (Old) Idea for a Team Battle
OK Guys, we are getting there. Party

Here are the teams:

Team 1 - USA
GUNSLNGR (TL)
Cross
Seahawk
Gibatar

Team 2 - GERMANY
2ndLt_Fjun (TL)
Vesku
Ratel
Jadpanther

We've decided on some basic setup parameters and are currently working on the final set of rules (which will be very simple). For the setup:

USA V. GE July 1944
Small-ish map (100 x 100 or 80 x 80)
4000 purchase points (roughly 1000 per company at TL's discretion)
20 to 25 turns long
Visibilty 50
Airstrikes XXX
Offboard arty limited to 10% (400 pts.)

This is as about as simple as it gets for SPWW2. The only purchase rules on the TL is that units have to be a roughly uniform battalion - not a creative mishmosh. If its an armored battalion then it should be uniform in that regard. There are no restrictions on deployment, again total discretion of the TL.

Fred and I are finalizing the rules, and I'll get back to all of you when they are set.

Cross: Do we have an ETA on the latest update?

They're aiming for a Christmas release for the patch. Last I heard was mid-December to mid-January.

RE: A New (Old) Idea for a Team Battle
I have no additional info. I think Zeiss is right, in the past the goal seemed to be to get the patch out before Christmas, but it could be January if real life or game problems interfere.

Have you nailed down a slot yet? Because players will want to keep that slot open.

The teams may be a little uneven (NB. for all you non-Brits, I just used British understatement ;) )
The Axis team have three players in the top 10 percent (Ratal's ability is unknown) but the Allied teams ELO is poorer than average.

One solution would be to swap Jadpanther or 2ndLt_Fjun with Seahawk or Gibatar. If not, there's one or two other things that we could do to make the battle more evenly matched, or challenging for the Axis.
