Hooked on Ops

Fellow Gamers,

After taking a chance on North German Plains, I am relly hooked on HPS's operational level games. Have also bought France 40 and have Mid East 67 on order. I love to play the full campaigns and can see myself buying every title in the series. I would like to give it a go against someone who has some experience with the system. Nothing like learning while getting your pants beaten off! I have to warn you though, contrary to my gentle username, I am a pretty competitive player.

I'm sure that you will find a game against a real opponent much more challenging than against the AI.

Welcome indeed, it is always best to familiarise yourself with the game system against the AI before moving to the far more competitive world of PBEM and it is also a good idea to PBEM a number of smaller scenarios before jumping into a giant campaign game, taking on a huge scenario early on before you have mastered the basics can lead to a lot of frustration in my experience. ;)

I'm sure that you will find a game against a real opponent much more challenging than against the AI.

Actually, I never play against the AI...boring: mindless "human" (or is it AI) wave assaults or puzzling lethargy on offense, same on defense. I have not seen a decent AI opponent in the series yet, although some scenarios are so unbalanced that I loose in spite of the AI's lukewarm performance. I like to take both sides and not favor either...most of the time.
