Request - Off Topic (and scenario information)
Okay gentlemen, as some of you know, my daughter who was born two years ago was three months early after four weeks with no amniotic fluid. She should probably not be here at all, and has astounded medical staff with her incredible resilience and intelligence. This last Thursday at her most recent developmental check up we received some bad news.
Julia was found to have profound developmental delays in her speech (her ability to make the words she wants to say - she has a ridiculous IQ but the lack of oxygen before delivery, that gave her the PVL, damaged that portion of the brain that controls word formation). She's already having speech therapy with all the other therapy she's getting, but the doc recommended concentrated, private, aggressive speech work. She may never be able to talk very well at all. If that's the case, it's going to be incredibly frustrating for her.
I am not a religious man, but my wife is, and if you are, I would ask that you keep Julia in your prayers. I would be forever in your debt.
