Off Topic  Your Top 5......
Hello All,

In honor of Rebel's return to the Blitz I thought it might be fun to list your top 5 rock and roll covers.

Here are mine in song; artist; (original artist) format:

1. All Along the Watch Tower; Jimi Hendrix (Bob Dylan)
2. Hey Joe; Jimi Hendrix; (The Leaves)
3. Johnny Was; Stiff Little Fingers (Bob Marley)
4: Ain't That a Shame; Cheap Trick (Fats Domino)
5: What's So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding?;
Elvis Costello; (Brinsley Schwarz)

Have fun!

Thanx!

Hawk

Top 5 in no perticular order.........

1) Sail on Sailer -The Beach Boys (Not a big fan of their music but this song just sticks in my mind. Great cover band song.

2) Can't You See -- The Marshal Tucker Band (Great drinking song. Perfect guitar lick and yes it is about a women that broke your heart)

3) Free Bird (live version)-- Lynyrd Skynyrd ("What song is it you wanna hear?" The 8 min guitar solos in the live version recorded at Fox theature in Atlanta, GA will blow you away or you are no rocker.)

4) Tumblin Dice-- The Rolling Stones (Great guitar licks and a real solid drum beat. This song never gets old unlike Keith.

5) Interstate Love Song-- Stone Temple Pilots (Recorded in the ATL this song rocks.)

(Just missed the cut... Space Truckin'/ Highway Star by Deep Purple. These two are great songs to crank up loud. DP is a great old school rock band.

Another Man's Women/Angel by Atlanta Rythem Section I grew up with Southern Rock. Gosh I miss these guys)

Great replies all.

Although I was looking for your top 5 covers. You know a remake, by someone other than the original artist.

Keep them comming.

Thanx!

Here's mine. I think some of these "covers" might have been better than the original:

Shakin' All Over - The Guess Who 1965 - Johnny Kidd & the pirates 1960

Spoonful - Cream 1966 - Howlin' Wolf 1960

Hurt - Johnny Cash 2003 - Nine Inch Nails 1994

Voodoo Child - Stevie Ray Vaughan 1984 - Jimi Hendrix 1968

Louie Louie - The Kingsmen 1963 - Richard Berry 1957

I've got most of them on vinyl. Yikes! :eek1: I'm old. :smoke:

cheers

HSL
