The objective immediate ahead of 19th Panzer Division is edging closer. "Get into town, or die in the open!" That's all there is for the panzergrenadiers still alive, in a desperate struggle to secure the crossroads in front of them.

General Schmidt is quick to counter the obscene claims Russians just made.

"First of all, just because the original name of the picture is 'Burning Tigers' means naught. One should not trust everything found in the internet!"

"Secondly, all friendly armour out there was destroyed turns ago. They all finished burning eons ago. Still smouldering perhaps, but burning? Definitively not! So, technically, the Soviet claims are utter rubbish as well. All that is burning are the one or two tanks we finally managed to destroy!"



"Ha! Take that, Ivan!" the men of 19th Panzer Division join in supporting the analytical logic their beloved commander used to escape the bad press he was receiving.

The German assault edges ever so closer towards the objective ahead, only to find hex after hex of fresh Soviet troops defending them.



At least 25-30 enemy T-34s are spotted rolling towards the battle zone, about to hit them from rear. One or two disrupted Mark IIIs are ordered to slow them down, if only for a turn or two!



By now, the 19th Panzer Division is a panzer division only by name. The exhausted men are facing their last chance to break into town. One last hurrah!

As panzergrenadiers arrive to stabilize the central front, Tigers from the 503 Schwere Panzer-Abteilung destroy advancing T-34s behind the woodline outside of Kurakovka...

It is all over for the once so proud 19th Panzer Division.

Barrage after barrage, assault after assault, the determined Russian defence lines hold on.



As the avalanche of T-34s now enter the battle as well, all that is left is to evacuate the wounded and get out from the open as quickly as possible!

Panzertruppen from the 7th Panzergrenadier Regiment are now in position to protect Kurakovka as T-34s burn on the horizon in front of them...


Having won the battle at Rzhavets, Soviet infantry keep driving west through heavy fire to regain ground lost early in the operation...will they suceed in retaking Kurakovka?

As Operation Zitadelle is called off due to Allied landing in Sicily, the surviving landsers are digging in, trying to survive the last moments remaining in the battle...



Realising he must have faced no other than marshall Zhukov himself, General Rudi Schmidt counts his losses while pouring a well deserved schnaps for himself.

"Maybe I should change my name to Roy Smith, and emigrate to US. I hear it is turkey season out there...", he ponders.
