West Front Troubleshooting

Hey all! I'm brand new mostly because I was referenced to this site for the problem I have running West Front. Sounds like everyone here is pretty pro with these games. Anyway, I recently purchased an original copy of Talonsoft's West Front and I'm having some compatibility issues. I installed the game and updated it, and it takes me to the main menu but as soon as I hit okay to start any scenario or campaign a window pops up saying, "Running main program. Please wait..." and then quickly crashes to my desktop. I have windows 7, but I'm running it as an administrator and under compatibility settings running it with Windows 95 (I have also tried running it under Windows XP SP2 and 3, still does nothing). And even in 640x480 resolution with 256 colors the problem keeps recurring. I also updated it to the 1.06 patch. Any help/advice would be appreciated!

I'm no expert, but the original WF won't run on Windows 7, I'm running it on XP without any problems.
You'll find that most people on here use the matrix version, but a few including myself still have the Talonsoft version.
I don't know where you found it, but the 1.06 patch was flawed and withdrawn - cannot remember without checking but I think the accepted patch is 1.05.
I'm running it on XP with 1024x768 resolution and 16bit colour.
