No "Wheel Zoom" option?

No "Wheel Zoom" option?
Neither 1776 or 1812 have the "Wheel Zoom" option available from the Settings Menu. I prefer to play in 2D but on high-res monitors the 2D imagery has become just too small for my failing eyesight. Am I overlooking something here? Is there any way to Zoom-In in 2D mode? I know about the hot keys 1 and 2 but the highest zoom is just to 2D Normal, and that's too small.

Thanks guys,

Tim

Hi Tim, long time ... :)

I think you might be talking about the 'added 2d' resolution like Panzer Campaigns has? There is a wheel zoom in the Napoleonic updates available now - but, they only allow you to scroll through the existing resolution levels.

I have the above in quotes, as technically it isn't another resolution level, but what happens is that the existing normal level gets magnified (to double size I think). The point, though is that currently it doesn't appear in NB which are being updated, it also isn't in EAW - which is the bad news, but I suspect that changing something like this probably can be added if it proves popular enough ( in other words I think it is probably a pretty straight-forward coding change).

Hi Steve! Thanks for the reply. A long time indeed ... been following the changes to your SDC site, though. Nice work!

I know these are old games but I sure hope a Zoom is added. I would ask too that another feature from Pz Campaigns be added -- the A/I speedup function for battle resolution. Large battles are going to be very tedious if you've got to wait to watch every last shot be fired. I was very surprised to find these features missing; given the similarities across titles of the Tiller interface, it seemed natural to expect they would be included.

So, Steve, weren't you working on a map mod at some point? (hint hint) :)

Best,

Tim

Do French and Indian War and Mexican War have these same limitations? If so I'm not buying them. Also, are the graphics any better in these 2 games? I've never had any big expectations from Tiller graphics but what I'm seeing in 1776 and 1812 is truly discouraging.

Thanks,

Tim

From my POV, MAW by far has the the best stock graphics. Even so, I still use art mods in all of my EAW games.

Some can be found here:

Tim - fast AI processing is there, just hit the F8 key.

Not sure about the extra zoom level, but I have mentioned it to JT. The Wheel Zoom feature is different - allowing you to use your mouses wheel. It will be added as its going into all games.

Working on Nap updates right now and finishing up another game in another series, but we'll get the the EAW series as there's a lot of updates that need to get in to FIW & 1812.

RE: No "Wheel Zoom" option?
Thanks for the replies, guys. I didn't know about the F8 A/I speedup option, Rich; I don't think that's included in the list of hotkeys but my list might be old. As for mods, I've got the Volcano unit mod for 1776. It's certainly a help but I would love to see something done with the maps. Any guides for modding available out there?

Best,

Tim

Is it OT to post OT but to something you brought up ... (oh the admin headaches I can cause... ;) )...

Mods... ah yes, working on my own material.... well, the sorry truth is that I have to get material up for a few more series (re-establishing the old material on the site), before I get to do any original. Lots of ideas there.

I haven't forgotten, though -that is the main thing.
