What games are people playing??
Looking at the ladders the last three years shows a steep decline in the number of CMx1 games played.

In 2010: 156 members logged more than one game, and there were 54 members who logged at least 12 games in CM;

in 2011: 117 members logged more than one game (a 25% drop), and 33 members logged at least 12 games (a 40% drop);

and in 2012: 72 members logged more than one game (a 39% drop from 2011 and a 54% drop from 2010) and only 22 members logged at least 12 games (a 33% drop from 2011, and a 60% drop from 2010) .

So -- if fewer people are playing CMx1, what has replaced it?

I would guess mainly CMx2, which went from 73 members who logged more than one game in 2011 to 100 members in 2012.

Are there other games out there that have replaced or augmented members' time playing CMx1 ? I thought Panzer Command Ostfront might have taken away a lot of my CM time, but not so.

In other leagues, the CMx1 are players of less. World At War or Wargames Player Club.

CMx1 is any of the 3: CMBO, BB, or AK? And CMx2 is Shock Force...or the newer Normandy game (I haven't bought either of those two)? I see where I played 14 games last year, and that's roughly average for me. (It took me 10 years to get 100 games, which I did in either Oct or Nov last year--but I had close to a year somewhere during the 10 when I didn't play any Ladder games.)

At least I'm part of the 22 above! Wink

RE: What games are people playing??
In my case,i stopped playing CMx1 entirely about one and a half years ago. That's the moment when CM: Battle for Normandy came out.
I enjoyed CMx1 for about 7 years,but somehow i don't see myself going back with CMBN and CMFI (Fortress Italy) safely resting on my hard-drive.
So,yes,me and other former CMx1 players simply moved our businesses on the CMx2 ladder.

That is what I had assumed even before looking at the different ladders. I suppose eventually I will give in and convert to CMx2 as well.

I have the free demo, I've played several times and honestly it doesn't do much for me.

CMBN/CW/FI is worse than CMx1. The reason: You can win every battle with Panther and much artillery. Achilles Tank Hunter are too expensive and aircraft are almost useless.

Not exactly.
In CMFI there are no Panthers to worry about.
In CW you have the Sherman Firefly which costs about 250pts compared to a Panther which costs 350pts. In CMBN you have the M10 which costs about 200pts. What i'm trying to say here is a Panther only force can be defeated and it is,more often than not.

Perhaps Fionn-Kelly's CM Armour Rules can help to balance the games:

http://www.axad75.dsl.pipex.com/Wargamin...-Rules.htm

These rules were written for CMBO units, but most of them should be present in CMBN too. I have to say that I have reinstalled CMBN some days ago and I don't know very well how works CMBN.
