Help  which panzer campaigns to go for?
For a while I have been thinking of getting one of the panzer campaign series. I would like to mainly use it for PBEM games. Hence I would like go for a title which is the most popular or among most popular to provide reachest selection of opponents with only one title in my portfolio to start with.

Thanks

Pawel

Hello Pawel,

Always nice to see one of our CS friends over at this forum, one good thing about PzC games is there are no halftracks to argue over!! LOL LMAO

The answer we always give to this question is to pick a game that is from a campaign that interests you, that is normally the best way to enjoy these games, you may not know, but there are no "old" games in the PzC series as all the games are updated to the same level regardless of how long ago they were released.

As for opponents, you will find a PBEM opponent for any title, but if you want to be extra sure i would go for a East Front game as they are always very popular.

Hope you have some fun! Big Grin

I think the new moscow 42 is outstanding-it has the winter scenarios which are tough slogs in the worst weather, and it has numerous what if scenarios from the summer of 42.

I also love the bluge game. So many varied units for both sides

My suggestion would be to select a title that you have an interest in. That way when you are learning the game, it will help keep your interest from wavering when things get tough in the learning curve and it will help keep you motivated than compared to a title that you have very little interest in.

One thing to keep in mind is that snowy conditions will cause unit movement to take alot longer and be harder to do. Needless to say, I am not a fan of the snow on the ground scenarios! :whis:

There is a free Demo called Mius '43 which will give you an idea of what the game system looks and feels like. It comes with a really good PDF Player's Guide which will be a big asset to have.

You can get the Demo here:

There are also some really good 3rd party art mods available which make playing in 2D very enjoyable! Smile

Good Luck!

Thanks guys. I have the demo of Mius and I tried it. I liked it so I think the baptism of fire to the series was a pass :)
Good that easter front is popular as it is the same here. I am balancing between Kursk and Minsk....

Of the titles I have played with any seriousness, Smolensk and NGP85 are my favourites, mostly because of the amount of choices in manouver warfare in them. The next I will buy, will most def be either Moscow 42 or France 14. Really regretting not getting France 14 at a sooner date and was top of my list (until I got tempted to buy WITP:AE on Matrix sale), but Moscow 42 seems like a wet dream for PzC fans, so much gaming value in one package.

Hi,
Speaking as someone who owns almost all the east front titles i agree, pick what interests you, but having said thatHelmet Rolleyes Kursk seemed like a slogging match (which it was) and so movement/maneuver is limited. Minsk is a great title but as the Germans your big victories are going to be local ones, the Russians are very good by then. Whatever you pick, feel free to send me a challenge, as i don't get to play as much as i want to so I your not playing an expert by any meansLOL
It's not the one with your name on it; it's the one addressed "to whom it may concern" you've got to think about.

Sorry to jump on this thread but its relevant to a question I have IMO. I have long been weary of HPS games but since I've gotten a couple I find there awesome titles. I'm looking for the next title I'm going to purchase and was wondering what people thought of Bulge 44 or El Alamein 42?

RE: which panzer campaigns to go for?
Personally I would recommend against Minsk 44; I'm playing a game against the AI now as Sov, and I have to say that it is rather tedious. After bashing my head against the German fortifications for many turns I was able to breakthrough, eventually everywhere, but now I'm "racing" along in breakthrough mode along the few roads that run through the swampy, channelized terrain. These few roads cross many major rivers, and yes, bridge demolition is triggered on a very regular basis, so keep those bridging units up close. At this point the biggest challenge has nothing to do with fighting the enemy, but fighting the terrain and managing 100+ hex long traffic jams. meh...

Historically, I would pick the Bulge 1st however, I'm not crazy about playing snow scenarios due to the movement limitations. So I would pick El Alamein from a game playing POV! :rolleyes2:

You will not be disappointed by selecting the title from the theater of war that interests you the most.

Either way it s a win-win!

Good Luck! Thumbs Up
