PzC Sicily
Hey everybody,

Thinking about picking up Panzer Campaigns Sicily. Does anyone know if the campaign game is playable against the AI or is it H2H only? I got Tunisia and was a little disappointed that the Kasserine campaign was h2h only.

Thanks!

Hi Fonebone,

Any of the scenarios are playable against the AI, and for those new to the games that can make for a great battle to learn from early on. The AI is not nearly as good as a human, although it can make good moves at times. So even though a scenario is marked h2h, it can still be played against the AI.

For Sicily specifically, there are a variety of campaigns, including stronger Allied and stronger Axis versions, so if you feel it is too easy against the AI, you can play a version where the AI gets more forces.

Thanks, Ricky. That's the info I was looking for.

It's either Sicily or Salerno for me. Any chance of Tiller ever running a sale?

Well, I picked up Sicily and just wanted to pass along to prospective buyers that Jison's Map Mod doesn't work with the current version of the game, available through the JTS website. It looks like the hexside template has undergone some changes since the map mod was created, as well as the hex features (woods symbols etc). In short, the mod makes a mess of the map.

You can still use the mod to swap out individual files, though. Out of the box the terrain is a very dark brown. Not good. I was at least able to use Jison's color palette and also the hex symbols (minefields etc) which are one of the mod's best features. So after lots of tinkering I've got the game looking decent.

The thing is, if I'd known the map mod wouldn't work with the game, I probably wouldn't have bought it. So just a head's up. Hopefully Jison sees this and updates his wonderful mod. (I used the one for Tunisia and it made that game look great. I wish JTS would just incorporate these mods into the game from the start!)

Sorry for the inconvenience Fonebone!

Thing is they have made some visual changes to the PzC/MC series – but ONLY on the JTS digital downloads - and I’m afraid this makes the mod uncompatible. (Although it still works as intended with HPS versions.) If they plan to release updates for those of us who have the HPS versions I honestly dont know. Its a bit weird to offer two different versions of the same games, it certainly makes things a bit complicated for a modder anyway. Wink

So to make a long story a little bit shorter: I couldnt update MapMod even if I wanted to, because my titles are all HPS versions.

Jison

Well, like I said, I was still able to use parts of your mod and the game looks decent now, so not all was lost.

If I were JTS, though, I'd make your and Volcano's mods standard right out of the box. I'd at least make sure the games remained compatible.

Anyway, I appreciate your efforts. Maybe you could do something for the Napoleon games! Big Grin
