played panzer campaigns demo - what next for small scenarios?

First time poster, long time player of PC wargames (Tiller's Campaign Series, TOAW, etc)

recently I started playing the Panzer Campaigns Demo (Mius 43) and have decided to buy a couple of the main games - I'm curious what would be a good starter after the demo

I want to point out I do like smaller engagements and Scenarios (I know most of the games have 200x200 maps but also have smaller scenarios/engagements) - I'll probably play the bigger CG's at some point but I'm also cool with just having 100-200 units per side - plus I suck at keeping my divisions together ;)

Welcome to the Blitz.

All the titles have a mix of small, medium and large scenarios so that will not effect your choice, best thing is to go for titles that represent campaigns that you find interesting and/or that you have background knowledge of.

just out of curiosity, is there a campaign game with Stalingrad 42 or is that just certain scenarios are played in a certain order - I remember some historical ones back in the old Talonsoft series and I thought there were some with Panzer battles but they may be informally put together -

I've been playing some of the smaller scenarios - man, cracking 3 layers of defense in 8 turns is a PAIN - :)

Yes, there is a campaign scenario (actually 1 historical and at least 1 hypothetical) for Stalingrad.

RB, if you click on the Scenarios tab at the top of this page you'll access a wealth of information about all the scenarios contained in any PzC title that interests you. Its size, its previous players' enjoyment and balance ratings, a brief synopsis of the situation, its won-loss-draw records, and the occasional editorial comment from previous combatants are all included on the scenario's page.

Hey Rick - I guess there IS that massive PzC campaign spreadsheet I've seen hitting all the campaigns - I guess I was just looking for a campaign like the kind in the Campaign series where there are a series of linked scenarios and you have to preserve your force from one game to the next -BUT I suppose I can always just play the scenarios in order and skip the what-if's too

that looks cool - might take a while to look thru all of them but I see that "SM" is a good indicator of how big the scenario is

You need to be aware that with the linked campaign scenarios there is no encryption possible. That is, either you or your opponent could inadvertently open the game and there would be no fog-of-war. You could see your opponents units.

I'd prefer AI opponents - I know they aren't as good but I'm on a pretty irregular schedule slipping a turn now and again whenever I can -

so basically, after doing some research I probably want to get Smolensk '41 (for the large number of intro and basic operational engagements) - and Tobruk '41 (for the number of scenarios that are short with fewer units) - as well as for the linked campaign games within it - sound about right?
