News  "Middle East" AAR at Matrix forum
Hi everyone,

I know many of you do not frequent the Matrix CS forum (while many of you do), I thought I'd let you know I've started an AAR of a playtest with the latest "Middle East" alpha code:

Long Road Home Mar 16/58
[Oued Fodda, Algeria]:[H2H][HIS][CSL]: A routine duty of the French in Algeria was patrolling the major roadways during the day. While typically uneventful, ambushes of varying degrees were common as the war progressed. One such ambush occurred as a company from the 4th Motorized Infantry Division was patrolling in the El Attaf region. While the patrol itself resulted in little, the return trip back to Chlef airbase found the company under attack by a well organized ambush by FLN units in the Oued Fodda area. [ALL][NONE][1.00]

You can find the AAR -> HERE

Lots of screen captures etc.

Any comments and questions appreciated Salute

The playthrough is now completed and serves as a valuable guideline to losing (badly) against AI.

Read and learn, folks, read and learn!

Hey Petri,

Sorry about your loss to of all things "THE INFAMOUS A/I"!!Tank6

But we all could be on uncharted ground here shortly. Indeed maybe the A/I is getting better. From the sounds of it we may all be grumbling about the new and much improved "INFAMOUS A/I"

Very sorry it had to be you to take the lumps though.Thumb Down2

Thank you for your sympathies ItB, it was a cruel beating! Big Grin

It's early days still even with ME regarding giving "HAL" some brain surgery it sorely needs. But I am ever so hopeful. There's the Cautious / Shifting / Audacious setting together with the slider bar already in MCS 2.0x, and as Berto mentioned in the Long Road Home AAR thread ...

Quote:Indeed, work is ongoing in the area of Audacious/Cautious A/I. Soon, and in the publicly released game, players can expect to see "Audacious" (and "Cautious") A/I to be much more pronounced and apparent than what Crossroads will be depicting here.

... he's working to have these settings become even more distinguishable.

Here's wishing him good luck!

Gawd knows sometimes he goes wondering so deep into AI code he's lost for days, and when finally coming out of the depth speaks only "0"s and "1"s for days! Propeller Hat
