Turn 50 German 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) Spa

B
Spa lost to assault. 1-36th Disrupted very easily to ground fire despite being B rated. It then lost the melee. The Germans took more casualties in the melee though. (22 men,1 tank/11 men)

A
An A/T screen has been set up. Not seen after replay but seen during the replay.

C-E
1-119th targeted. My only consolation is that I did get a Disruption on a FJD unit so both units in a hex are Disrupted....melee???

F
He followed me up again. 3-36th Arm Inf lost one man and Disrupted to artillery????? (B rated unit!)

G
No fire?

Turn 50 German 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) Werbomont - Manhay

Nothing much exciting happened here......I guess this is starting to sum up this game now.

E
116th armour continues to follow up my withdrawal towards Werbomont. Not sure I'll go that far. 40th Tank Bn (CCA 7th AD) is in place to have a go with its 34 M4's. Fatigue is 72 so it will quickly become orange fatigued. The 814th which I've carefully husbanded has 28 M36's and a fatigue of only 14. The 740th Tank Bn (VII Corp troop) has 39 M4's and fatigue of 5 and is well placed to intervene, or to investigate what he has stacked with the Werfer? unit to its south.
Plus just off map 4 hexes from Werbomont I have the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment with 30 M4's and 15 M4 Fireflies.
I guess its just about show time.....

D
Engineers plus an A/T unit follow up the 17th Tank Bn.

B-C
D/40 TNK pays the price for its move last turn and loses 6 M5 tanks. 4 of them to artillery. Thankfully it recovered from Disruption so it has at least some mobility.
Quite a large force with 4 VGD Bn's and possibly a 116th Bn accompanied by a few tanks.
D/40 has the option of pulling back to Bra or fleeing south west. Bra probably pointless as he will target the unit and destroy it with more artillery so its set course south west I guess. His VGD won't catch me.

A
No ground fire only artillery. The two 560th VGD units are disrupted and a tempting target for assault but the 9th SS recon unit will stop this easily.
The 2-335th still hasn't recovered from Disruption yet but the 331st Engineers have.

Turn 50 German 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) Bertogne

High level shot.

9th SS engineers probe La Roche. Defensive fire takes out 10 men when they rolled up in T mode and dismounted.

2nd SS and 2nd Panzer keep the woods offensive going. The 3-504th hit badly by artillery as it its sitting in Clear terrain. (will pull back next turn) 2-505th also hit but the Woods and Trench saved it a bit.
Only one unit of the 26th VGD moved up. Patrols can see the other units further back.

A bit late in the day to start hitting back so I'll probably just bide my time here and keep falling back. Its a strange place to use armour? But he must have FBB guarding Bastogne?

Turn 50 German 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) Margerotte - Brouch

No movement or action at all in the south. He has a trapped 5th FJD unit near Chaumont and my patrols can see 2 units in the south (FJD/VGD) but thats it.

I'm happy to sit out the 21st (1 turn to dusk) quietly in the south. I've posted a map showing what will be my rough moves for the next few turns mainly getting 80th Div in place for my pushes and the 26th Division in line.
I'm also finally getting CCA 9th AD out and moving north to meet its Divisional HQ and the reat of the division.

At moment I've no idea what to do with the 26th. I'll wait and see what the weather is before making any moves.

Turn 50 Allied 2pm 21st Dec (Mud)

Ok sorry for delay here is the end of the turn scores for Turn 50.

During my turn or phase I took out 252 men, 4 guns and 8 vehicles and only lost 25 men. So that evened out the results from his turn and we more or less finished even in losses.

Turn 50 Allied 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) - Elsenborn

There wasn't much action in the north, all artillery. V Corps artillery starting to come back on line after its retreat through the woods.

(A) I hit the AA unit which 'sneaked' around my flag and took out 2 vehicles/guns eliminating it. I then moved the 1-394th to occupy the hex and see if there was anything else out there. The C/38th Cav also fell back.

I pulled back most of units in the east apart from the 1-23rd (2nd Div) which will delay him a turn possibly.

I couldn't fall back in the south in front of his 12th SS infantry so will just have to take the lumps here. The 1st Combat Engineers are moving up to allow 1-16th and 1-47th to retire next turn. Hopefully he won't assault them.

The 2-23rd is also dragging itself through the mud to support this area.

The 3-18th was pulled back. I see no point in it sitting out there and being mauled by 3 enemy Battalions.

And that was it for my Turn 50 in the north. A dusk turn next then night.

Turn 50 Allied 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) - Spa

The last units of 3rd Armoured have arrived and were sent to just north of Spa. 33rd Armoured Rgt HQ will move south to try and get within command range of the 3-33rd tank Bn which is down at Stoumont on Low Fuel. The 2-36th Armd Inf Rgt has moved up adjacent to the A/T screen set up NE of Spa. (6 men lost)

Artillery results shown on map. A few fire fights. 1-517th against the 62nd VGD Bn to the south. The B/643rd TD company sw of Spa took out a Panther and got 2 Fatigue hits for no reply.

I also made some adjustments at Spa.
Pulled 526th out
Moved 2-119th and 2-32nd back
Moved D/3-32 TNK forward then slipped 99th down to join it
Brought 105th CE up (bumped into KG Hansen Recce and Disrupted 3rd FJD Bn)

So slight pressure on his flank south of Spa and I've begun to concentrate the 517th as well.

Turn 50 Allied 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) - Werbomont - Stoumont

No real action here, I fell back at Stoumont and also at Werbomont. It might be my last withdrawal at Werbomont as I now have an armoured strike force assembled. So possibly show time IF he advances....

Turn 50 Allied 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) - Grandmenil - La Roche

Not a great deal of action here either.

D/40 TNK got out of Dodge and ran away.

335th Rgt now in two hexes adjacent to the 9th SS recon/AT stack so will try to apply pressure.

2HCR recon units will try to squeeze down Erzee - Dochamps road then exploit east. (they can't breakdown and are large units)

1-505th has moved to La Roche and the 325th are in reserve at Veomont. He's not serious about La roche though.

Turn 50 Allied 2pm 21st Dec (Mud) - Bastogne

All artillery in the south. 26th VGD infantry heavily attacked as its in Clear terrain. I also tried using my heavies against his armour but secured lots of fatigue hits but no tanks.

82nd Airborne has pulled back to woods.

I've pulled back to let his FJD pull back.

I've probed Sainlez. The SS Recon unit received the full might of the 80th Divisions artilllery. (3x105mm batteries (Stockpiled) and the 155mm Battery)and will probably fall back now. Its now showing as X or less than 10.
