RE: Wiggum's "Battles of Normandy" Artwork Mod
Great, cant wait to use the final version of your tweaks !

I agree with you, the railroads will be the most frustrating and time consuming thing to change.
It would be not that difficult if a style similar to the MapMod railwork artwork would be used.

What do you think about the roads ?
Especially the primary vs. secondary thing ?

Another quick question:
Are the damaged railroads (2DDamage100) and trails (2DTrails100) used in the stock scenarios ?

All the transport network will be very hard to mod. I have a few ideas how to do it, but it's something I don't have time for in the very near future. It took me quite a while to get the current files done.

As far as trails, yes they are used, while damaged railroad is not. There is no railroad capacity/movement in Normandy - mainly due to Allied air superiority and hence little point of putting damaged rail on the map other than for aesthetic reasons.

Looks great. Many thanks for this, David. I'm very grateful you're doing it! The bridges work a treat as you have them in that last shot.

It's really nice to see it with the scale giving an idea of the scale. And also nice it's not so cluttered, I think - easier to read, perhaps.

Will the files you make work in Kursk too?

Hi !

I spend a hour editing the roads and rails to get them into the (in my opinion) correct scale.
As you can see i choose a "real map like" style for the railroads (similar to the MapMod artwork), now they are less "in your face"... Big Grin
The grey roads are primary ones, for the the secondary roads i took the trail graphics and made them a few pixels wider.
What do you think ?

(Hedgerows hexsides, trees + orchards are also already downsized, still need to do the buildings)

Hi Wiggum,

I got them. Been a busy morning here in Australia.

I want to tidy a few things up and I'll post the graphics mod that I've done.

Roads and rails look fantastic, David. Spot on. Orchards also look much better now, almost filling the hex. Buildings have reverted to large...
Cant wait to use it. Many thanks!

Hi Peter,

That latest was Wiggums version.

Here is what I have tried.

New minor roads - let me know what you all think. This was a huge job and I know rail will take ages...
New orchards - they are similar to Wiggums but do not fill the hex to the same extent
New entrenchments/fortifications/obstacles - I think these are MUCH better than the originals.

Happy for any comments and I now need to decide whether to do rail and/or major roads...

As before Original game on the top, new version on the bottom.

Hi David !

New minor roads - much better, they actually look "minor" now Big Grin
New orchards - I think these need a view trees outside the "square" to give it a more natural look
New entrenchments/fortifications/obstacles - Wow, much better, do you think the outlines can be made smaller ?

Here is something from my mod which i think is a nice addition to the game:

New artwork for broken unit, notice the dark red bar bottom left ?

A HMG unit above a broken unit, you still can see that a broken unit is inside this hex !

Dark green bar bottom left for units carrying passengers, notice how you still can see the carrying unit even if another unit counter is above ?

What do you think ?
