Help  Error Messages
I'm suddenly getting some weird error messages in my games, rendering them unplayable.  When I get an emailed file from an opponent and try to save over the old file, I get a message that I don't have permission to open the file.  If I save it under a different name, I can open the file and even play my turn, but when I try to end my turn, I get a "Cannot open file" error message and it doesn't end the turn.  If I try to save that game mid-turn, I also get the "Cannot Open File" message.  As a result, I can't play my turn.

This has happened with three opponents' files so far.  Two with Smolensk and one with Korsun.  Curiously, everything seems to work fine with another game I have going with Tunisia.

So the problem is definitely on my end, but I have no idea what to do.  I'd appreciate any help.

Regards, redboot.

RE: Error Messages
Did you try deleting the pbemail file(s) in the game folder? It could be that the system somehow has the wrong data stored, which makes it think you're opening your opponent's turn or the like.

RE: Error Messages
It sounds like your directory might have been set to "Read Only"? If you have windows you can check this by checking the file properties.

Read only was indeed the problem.  Now if I only knew how it happened.  Thanks a million!

One of Window's eternal mysteries, I'm afraid.  Very glad that I could help!
