Omaha is tough. Defending units in bunkers and pillboxes are hard targets, and your naval artillery is not too great against hard targets. Tanks and AT guns are your best bet. There is one hex which is a trench that you can work on, although I think the unit that starts in that hex is B morale. You can also get lucky assaulting undisrupted hexes as I think assaulting has a higher possibility of disrupting the target. There are a couple of hexsides I think you can assault across right from the beginning with out having the engineers clean everything up. And, if you are playing against a human, they are going to target your engineers mercilessly. It can be frustrating.
