Some location changes for what is called in the game 3 Brigade 1st Infantry Division. In reality this brigade, with whom I served during the period covered in the game, was known as the 1st Infantry Division (Forward)--or 1st ID (F). We were an independent brigade under corps control during peace time, and in time of war our GDP plan (I am guessing this is no secret any more!) was to be under the operational control of the German 12th Panzer Division. In the game, the brigade HQ and 4/16 Infantry start in Boblingen. In reality both were at Goeppingen. Also, 2-5 Arty is shown as starting in Boblingen, when in actuality it was based at Schwabisch Gumund. Minor stuff, I know, but hey, when I play Bolt and 4/16 Infantry gets shot up, I take it personal!!

I'm assuming that is the battalion that served as Tower Guards for our Pershing Missiles at Combat Alert Site.  I was in the Infantry Platoon assigned to A 1/81 FA.  80-82.

Is that the unit that was at at Heilbronn? If so, yes. I was Liaison Officer for our battalion there during the Mayday demonstrations in 1985.

Just a minor comment. If anyone is making changes to the OOB for any of the Berlin scenarios. The unit that I believe is listed as an Independent Security Co. at hex 27-18, is in fact the 287th Military Police Co. (Separate). I served as an MP patrol supervisor and NCOIC of Checkpoint Charlie from 84-87 in Berlin.

Yeah. Red Brigade & Bader-Meinhof were popping back then. I was there when they blew up the disco in Berlin & grabbed a USAF guy & cut his head off—not to mention the “accidental” explosion of the Pershing 2 at Heilbronn P2 base. 
To be honest, I loved serving in Germany at that time because it was real. I know it sounds odd, but it was not the games we played at state side posts.

Also, I think an American General was taken hostage in Italy.  We also had some German biker gangs passing through.  On top of that, German Police were not to be messed with.  The biggest, baddest guy with the Police was usually the smallest.  They all carried submachine guns back then.

The Dutch Air Force (Koninkliijke Luchtmacht) and the Danish Air Force (Dansk Flyvevabnet) are both not present in the NATO OOB.

This might be a design choice since both air forces were flying mostly F-16's at the time, and it looks like only dedicated CAS units along with dedicated tactical recon units are being portrayed.

However, the Dutch had 314 and 316 Squadrons flying NF-5A's dedicated to CAS, and the Danes had Esk 725 equipped with F-35 Drakens for CAS, and Esk 729 equipped with RF-35 Drakens for tactical recon. This is according to Pat Callahan's "NATO Order of Battle 1989" document (version 8.6) dated 25 October 2012.

I have one greviance to this scenario... mainly WP border guard units. I think they should all be deleted for both NATO and WP or WP one's should be pulled off the map at the end of day one. They can be used to block NATO troops or help to isolate them And they are numerous...
