RE: 260: Rommels Second Offensive (solo AAR)
Turn 7 - 2 Feb 1942

Mud yet again! Six straight turns of mud!

Allies did one ground attack.

Air Superiority Resolution lost 3 air points.

The Italians in the south trapping the Allies in the salt marshes can't get enough strength up for any attacks and likewise until the rest of the Afrkia division arrives to help with Benghazi. In east we bump into more NZ(?) infantry outside of Tobruk.

Final positions.

Turn 8 - 4 Feb 1942

Mud yet again! Seven straight turns of mud!

Air Superiority Resolution lost 3 air points.

Another disastrous Italian attack. Last time I'll do that.

Things go well on my eastern flank, capturing Gazala and pushing on Derna.

With only one turn left can I get a draw?

Turn 9 - 6 Feb 1942

Mud yet again! Eight straight turns of mud!

Air Superiority Resolution lost 3 air points.

Allies attack the Italians twice in an attempt to breakout, but to no avail.

I conduct three attacks on Benghazi (16/5, 9/29 and 2/13. Total loses of 27/47) and still don't succeed.

I captured Derna, but could not push or move the FF unit.

Found a sneaky Aussie/NZ and FF unit trying to retake Gazala.

End of turn 9.

Game over.

Ends in a Draw!

Fun, fast little scenario, mud was a killer I think. Massed Italians attacking in bad terrain is not a good mix. Was surprised that a single Panzer division (regiment?) could so easily overpower an infantry unit. Fun.

Found out from reviewing the end turn, that I was fighting SA and Indian units.

Would think it would be really great if WOTSF had a couple of really long campaign scenarios, like 1940-1943, or 1941-1943 and even a full on 1942 from E

Man I just realized that all of Italy is on the map, too bad a 1943-1944 campaign scenario is not present. Man this already has Sicily, why not Salerno?

I could see an Anzio scenario as well.

Crap are you thinking what I am thinking? 1941-1945...

Think bigger... 10 km hexes? I can totally see using this game as a strategic-level wrapper for smaller random battles in PzB... you'd just need a couple of years to finish each scenario Big Grin

This of course has prompted me to look into how to actually make a scenario file...

That is for another thread...thanks for watching...
