Tournament

RE: Tournament
Jesse and I just finished . The Allies took a major victory. My plan for the Allies was using the speed of the Finns I captured the two advance point hexes. Definitely , the speed helped(allowed surround and assault). I have to give credit to previous players comments on the data page at the Blitz. I believe without it I would have hesitated moving up my troops.).That approach was successful. The assaults went better then I expected considering extreme assault was in effect. My armor was beat up badly( I threw them at the Russian armor) however, they took a lot of hits fending off what could have been a run-over by Russian armor. What surprised me was having success assaulting Russian armor that was not disrupted. I was able to eliminate several armor units when they were forced to retreat into a hex causing overstacking of Russian troops.

Finn fire was very effective, as has been noted the russian troops fire was less effective.

And now, at the tournament with more balanced and experienced players, the scenario balance is not quite what it seemed.

I am happy to update the scenario based on the feedback to a new version.

You are too kind sir.  You are no slouch my friend.

My goodness we play tested that 11 years ago.

Panzerjaeger and I are playing this match.  I screwed up and thought he surrendered ... when indeed he had not. (I confused our game with another match I'm playing.)

I logged a win on the Blitz CS Ladder.  Scud has very quickly deleted the incorrect result.  Thanks Scud.

That's right, unfortunately something went wrong. I'll still lose, but I hope I can at least keep a minor loss.

RE: Tournament
At the mid-point of my game with Tanker Tony. The Finnish ski infantry are pressing my Ivans hard. I've lost the village in the center. I'm holding my own with my armor in the open terrain SE of the village, and contesting the high ground to the East.

Long story short, the scenario is winnable by either side, IMO. Both sides have to recognize their advantages and use them accordingly. The Finnish advantage is in the mobility of their infantry and the quality of their leaders. The Russian advantage is in its artillery and tanks.

Was able to get a major win with the Russians in a good fight with Ashcloud. The Russian armor seemed pretty formidable
and I tried to mass the Russian infantry where I could.
Moving up all my 75mm guns for direct fire seemed to help out as well.

RE: Tournament
Hello Fellow Tourniquet' I mean Tourenyquets possibly Tournamentals:

I strode onto the battlefield, Finnish balls painted blue, but in the end my brave opponent...Von Luck...told me to go put on a jock strap...and then managed to come back and secure the DRAW.  Note that JB had 199 points.  Note that 200 would have been a Minor Victory for me.  Note that it was as close as it could be...;)  And on that note we'll move on...

I was doing well until Von Luck traded in his SMG weapons for chainsaws.
Once he sawed our ski's off we just didn't have it in us...;)

GREAT GAME thanks JOHN.

Regards,

Dan
