b_Exclamation Mark  New Tourney: Blitz CMBB Byte Battles Brawl
The Blitzkrieg Byte Battles Brawl is a new League Tourney of 16 to 24 players scheduled to run over more or less 9 Rounds. The idea of this tourney is to have a free-for-all brawl with small, quick and fun "Byte" battles where players' forces are random-picked by the AI and in each Round opponents are randomly drawn. We've been having lots of fun with a CMAK version of this over at the FGM (check out that tourney website here). Here's how it works:

The tourney is played in CMBB.

All games are limited to about 500 to 900 points a side, 20 turns fixed and played on small, custom-built or selected maps.

The players are provided with a map, detailed setup parameters. Games will cover all time periods from Finnish Winter War, Barbarossa to Berlin.

The forces in each game are always randomly drawn by the computer, so you never know what you're going to get to fight with. If your kit sucks in one game, you might have the chance to turn the tables in your other game. In this tourney you won't have the chance to do the QB cherry-pick and you will find yourself fighting in some extreme and unusual situations. (Good thing too, is that due to the random pick system, I can play in my own tourney :) )

In each Round players play against one opponent as Axis and a different randomly drawn opponent as Allies using the same game parameters. Due to the random opponent draws, players might get different opponents every round or play the same player several times.

Players are awarded the following points:
Total Victory 6
Major Victory 4
Tactical Victory 3
Minor Victory 2
Draw 1 each

While I would of course like to maintain a good pace of game completions, the league format allows for overlapping rounds which might be resorted to, to maintain momentum. All this means that the league table standings are always fluid.

Also check out the barebones website.

Players interested, please consider that this'll involve at least nine months to a year's play -- so please only sign up if you can seriously commit and partake in the fun aspect of this format.

To sign up please reply to this post or e-mail me at rico(at)rico.co.za
-- strictly on a first-come basis. This tourney is also open to FGM players involved in the CMAK version. depending on interest it'll be 16 or 24 players and start up in about a week's time.
