General Beyerlein took a nip of the fine white Saar wine his ordonace fouraged from a nearby vinery and looked at the pile of new reports on his desk:
His men were dying like flies during the allied artillery barage,
a platoon of his precious Panthers was wiped out by the crossfire of the already mentioned M10s (at this point Beyerlein could not supress a feeling of admiration for his opponent, well done, chap, well done), more US troops showed up at his left flank and, worst of all, an artillery observer spotted a column of allied tanks moving towards Ischermuhl.
But there were good news, too.
The division's engineer battalion arrived just in time to fill some of the most serious gaps.
The general felt confident, that there still was enough spirit in his men to show those Yanks that the PanzerLehr Division was still alive and kicking!
