Strike of the Lehr
H. Blauzahn vs. Der Stuber Turn 16
With men moving about in Fenetrange a enormous explosion shatters what windows remained in buildings as a giant plume of black smoke rises
from the river. "The bridge is gone," and Capt Grillo smiles and thinks to himself " those damn German engineers were persistant, I have to give them credit, they may have changed the tide of this whole operation."
To do what they did under such heavy fire if any of them survived they should get an iron cross with oak leafs.
The capt then yells out, "OK, load up and everyone move out as planned, I'll meet you in Raumiller".
The German onslaught at Raumiller continued with German armor pounding away at american positions. We took more losses and then Maj Bailey jumped from his position and led another counter attack. More German armor burning in the already crowded streets. These are determined men with one goal in mind.
To the east Lt Col. Sanders has his force inching forward toward Raumiller. He is having to fight off hidden tank fire at each move but the men know the gravity of the situation. He ponders the new orders sent to him from HQ, "Capt Grillo's plan had better work" or we are all doomed.
