Sure - sounds easy to say - much harder apparently to develop.

FWIW, this whole option was developed by John Tiller, almost under protest. He didn't like the idea and he only did it because a number of Blitz players came to me and said - "look - we do this and disable the ability to keep players from cheating or they won't support the series any longer."

...so John reacted to the customer base.

One more point on something Dog Soldier said about closing the game and opening it again before you start a different BTL file with the same game - this also clears out the memory and prevents PBEM replays from becoming corrupted.
